Would you spend a thousand bucks on a watch?

Oh, to answer the original question, I will not spend that kind of money. I may spend a quarter of that to try to score a similar type of watch.

For that watch, no. But if I had the money I wuld definitely like a nicer watch that my Seiko, don't get me wrong, it's a great watch, but it's no rolex, or movado.

Why in the world would you need a watch that is 300m waterproof ? Are you a diver or something ? 😉 1000K for a watch, hell no. 😀

I doubt anybody would spend 1 million dollars on a watch.

heh, funny you guys say no. I know that you people wouldn't hesitate to drop a few hundred bucks every product cycle on computer hardware to squeeze a few FPS outta UT. 😀

I upgrade when my current system no longer meets my needs.

Which is about every 2-3 years.

EXACTLY. a GOOD watch (and no timex is NOT a good watch) will last a long time. computers last how long with you all?

if you have the money, go for it. if you take good care of it, you can still resell on ebay for a good amount if you're bored with it.

I disagree. While a Timex isn't comparable to an Omega or Rolex, they are excellent watches for the money. Hell, I have two $25 Timexs' that keep very good time. Doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have a Tag Heuer😉

heck no!

I don't think i spent more then $50 for my watch.

oh wait thats a lie. i did buy a "dress" watch that was $160 or so

any thoughts?

Yes I would. My current watch was only $400 but that was what I could afford at the time. I am thinking of a Cartier or perhaps Omega for Christmas 2005...

Don't listen to people on this board... they would gladly drop $400 on a video card or $600 on a CPU but will not go any further than a cheap Walmart watch or a Timex.

The watch you have your eyes on is an excellent choice.

However, if you want a watch that really reserves its value, look for a Rolex. My cousin bought a used Rolex for $2400, used it for 2 years, and sold it for $2400 ... quite good deal for people with money...

Again, don't listen to these nerds, a watch keeps the time, the most valuable thing. You don't want a Timex holding on to your most valuable asset.

I havent owned a watch in..... 4 years? I hate watches, I feel like a slave to society when I wear one. I have an alarm clock to make sure I get to work on time and thats where it stops.
Thus no, I wouldnt spend 1000 on a watch. I also wouldnt spend 5 bucks on a watch. I would however spend 1000 on a good custom gun or something.
Priorities man. And time isnt one of mine 😉

Last summer my mom called me from HK saying choose the Rolex or the Omega. I asked if I had to pay and she said yes, so I chose neither.

Er, those fake ones are actually getting better in quality and cost about $50 US. Normal people can't tell the difference. Some of them even have "swiss movement"

i think i'm gonna get a bvlgari chrono or one of the cheaper rolex's sometime in the next year or so. I'd like a patek phillipe, but I just don't see that happening for at least another 10 years. I think I'm gonna get one of the cheaper tag's to replace my pos fossil soon.

I definitely would. Watches hold their value very well, and bring me pleasure. If you can afford it, why not? I find it amusing that people consider this a waste of money - why would anyone own a BMW when a Honda Accord is more reliable and cheaper? Why would you own a nice HT setup when you could get a HT in a box for $399? Why buy dinner at a luxurious restaurant when Arby's is a fraction of the price?

I enjoy watches, and have a bit of a collection. My Sinn is the nicest one I have presently, but there are many swanky watches I aspire to owning one of these years.

See my thread.
Its about priorities.

not worth it. talk about wasteing money.

...unlike the $500 video card that's going to be outdated in a year that many on AT wouldn't hesistate to drop their money on. 😛

At least a good quality watch will last a lifetime.

Wow, a site that actually sells "replicas"

here
Haha, nice. How are those? For the money, they actually look pretty good.

I dunno, I'm tempted to spend $300 to buy a "Rolex" for my wife.
Haha. I dunno if I would buy it until I could find out more. If they are actually halfway decent, and include all of the features as a true rolex (with the obvious exception it not being gold), it would actually be really decent. The thing I like the best is the perpetual movement. The other thing I am wondering is if these replicas actually are waterproof like the originals too, as well as kinetic.
