Would you return an LCD for having 1 dead pixel? *Poll*

I bought a 17" LCD at Frys. Im really happy with it, but it came with one dead pixel. Im really bothered by it.

So the question is, would you return it for having one dead pixel, then buy another one ? The store is like 35 minutes away. Ill probably do it regardless of how the poll goes, but I was just curious what you guys would do.

Depends on location and appearance of the pixel, and price/brand of the LCD.

I'd be more inclined to exchange it if it's an expensive LCD and the dead pixie is prominent.

no way
and most places have a written policy, 8 is often the minimum before you can return it

i would. it would annoy the hell out of me. im sure there's plenty of other people that wouldn't mind it though. 😉

I can return it within 30 days for any reason, so that wouldnt be a problem. It is a hyundai monitor that cost $329 on sale.... but its something like 16ms and it looks really good to me. It might not be super high end, but it is for me, $300+ is a ton of money to me.

If the pixel doesn't work then the unit is Broken. Exchange it at the store or send it in for warranty if it's over the return time.

Incorrect.

Anyway, see if you can find one of those "pixel massaging" programs. Sometimes you can kick them back to life.

I have a samsung 21" 213T and it has a dead pixel.
i haved owned it for about a year now and its not bothersome but i will get it replaced before warranty expires eve if its the only one

the strange thing is my dead pixel looks more like a small spec of dirt not the usualt green ,red or blue always on.

yeah most definitely. If im dropping 800 bucks on an LCD, it better be perfect....
My 2001fp came with 3 dead pixles and that thing went back quicker than you can say outsourced customer service

I bought a Hyundai L70S 17" with a dead pixel on it. I got over it in a few days. It's still there and I totally forgot about it until you posted this thread.

It was only $249 after rebate though.

BTW, how do you guys like the Hyundai LCD? Its on sale at Frys all the time but I never bite because I never see any real reviews.

I have one deap pixel on my Dell 19" LCD and as subtle as it may be I tend to look at the dead pixel every time my system boots. If you're able to return it without hassle, I say go for it.

So many ignorant people in here...

LCDs by nature will have dead pixels. Each brand/model has an "acceptable limit" of dead pixels. The cost it would take to ensure that every unit produced had absolutely NO dead pixels would drive the price of LCD screens up tenfold.

My 2001FP has 1 dead-white pixel in the right-center of the screen, and a less noticeable one in the top left. I forget they are there unless I am focusing on that specific area of the screen, with the right color background.

My first LCD had three dead pixels, all stuck "on." I kept this LCD for about a year or so. The pixels bothered the hell out of me, but I was never the wiser. Then one day I learned that Best Buy's extended warranty works in a similar way as to Comp USA's, where I can return the old unit for a new "updated" version. Well, lucky me, the new version had no dead pixels. I have been lucky since then, and all 3 LCD's I have bought have had zero dead pixels. But next time I get an LCD, and it has a dead pixel, it will go back in favor of a different one.

Other than the dead pixel, it impressed the hell out of me. But ive never owned an LCD before so maybe my judgement is off. It is really bright and clear, and the 2 year warranty is only $29, and I think it was worth it. Just in case it lives up to hyundai's name 😉

If it bothers you that much, just go return it, especially if u got it at a store isntead of online.

I've got 1 dead pixel in my 19" Sony LCD. Not going to bother trying to return it, it's not worth the hassle for a single pixel (which happens to be off in the corner of the screen).

straight up, you're a pompous ass. there's no way that i would shell out $750 on an lcd and be happy if it had dead/stuck pixels when i know that others have perfect ones.

if it bothers you, yeah, I'd return it.

I have two, but they are in such remote places that I don't care at all, I never notice them. That, and I'm getting rid of this comp soon when I buy my laptop.
