No,correct me if I`m wrong but I read here awhile back that no game takes advantage of dual processors for gaming.

it helps for like seti@home,but for games, not worth the expense vs,say,an Amd XP 1800 etc
get a mboard u can overclock and good memory, good video more important

512 mb of RAM, a GeForce 2 Pro, and a 1ghz+ processor is enough to play most games out there. A dual processor system wouldn't be worth the price, and in most cases, wouldn't give much of a performace increase since the majority of games out there aren't SMP enabled.

No, read the latest THG and AT video-card comparisons and see that 3D games are limited by the video card not by the CPU. Other games run fine on much slower systems so again just get a fast single CPU.

Again with the NO, not worth it.

When we get to the point that we need Dually for gaming, I'de love to see the games !!!

I'm sure they will be on DVDs and need at least 128-256 mb video cards !!!

But it would be like playing toy story, or even better....but for now, no.

Quake 3 is SMPable.
If you can get it to actually WORK in SMP.

I have a dualie, and love it.
But I don't think games run any better on it than they would on a single CPU system.

For the extra cost overhead, buy a GF3 TI-500. Dual systems aren't cheap, and the performance gain is negligible for gaming.

FWIW, NASCAR Racing 4 and 2002 were designed as multi-threaded apps and can take advantage of SMP. Does it make a difference in gameplay? Hard to say.

IMO, SMP capable gaming offers some interesting opportunities for game designers who are already pushing the limits of current (and likely future) video cards. Eye candy is cool, but stronger AI, campaign, and physics engines might make some games more interesting for longer. Most of the games I see today are just graphically enhanced retreads of the games we were playing 5 years ago.

<< Ok, Ok, Ok, it's NO. Would this be useful for the guy which makes divx all day long? >>

Kinda. Your encoding time won't decrease much(unless you using Flask or Xmpeg)but with duallie you can encode a movie and burn cd's or play a game at the same time. If this is going to be your main or only PC I say build a duallie.

T2 ( Tribes 2 ) is SMP compatible. I see a 35% boost in frame rates when I enable the second processor.

For most games, I agree, little to no speed increase will be noticed.
