Would you reccomed this combo?

Unfortunatley, my abit nf7-s just died, so I found it to be a good excuse to get a new processor too.

I decided to go intel this time, and I have $400 to spare. looking on pricewatch, I found this.

As usual, I like to check here because you guys are much more knowledgable then me.

So what do you think? Personal opinions welcome, just wanna know if this is a good deal or if I can find better for my budget.

Thanks!

Thanks, but the reason I'm replacing this one is because I fried it overclocking(Stupid me) and I'm going to hold off ion that at least until I get my watercoolling. My main concern is that this may not be the best deal. I have never got an intel before, and after looking at some benches, I'm a little concerned. So basically what I'm asking is, is this the best mobo/cpu I can buy with $400?

Athlon64 3500+ 939 pin and ASUS A8V, They run VERY cool, and you won;t have any problems.

well this is most excellent. I get a lil nervous before making a purchase, and now I'm in a bind between the p4 3.4 and the amd 64 3500. After looking at benchmarks, I have found the amd 64 to be better, but I am told not to purchase anything based on benchmars alone.

Thanks for your guys's patience and help.

Tough decision - P4 or A64.

I can tell you I would not get that motherboard - I848 chipset does not support dual channel DDR -

BTW - I own a P4 Prescott 3.4 and a A64 3400. If i could only keep one, I would keep the P4.

IMHO
