Would you rather look real strong/buff and be weak OR look rather weak and scrawny but be real strong?

it's pretty difficult to be scrawny and strong since strength is directly related to muscle size.

I think the poll is off a bit... yes, you can look too big for what you lift, but you aren't going to be a wimp.

I'd rather be able to scratch my back and nuts. Scrawny but strong for me.

dunno, heh. Strong in a weak looking body is definately cool, like a small car without any huge body kits, but inside being a real sports car. But I think I would prefer being medium. Medium strong looking and medium strong :D

I say look weak but be strong. Always far more satisifying beating the cr@p out of someone when they never see it coming. Plus, if any of the muscle bound guys try to impress the chicks by beating on a weakling like you appear to be, well, that all just adds to the satisifaction.

The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they're going to be when you kill them.

I know you can be lean and be strong but scrawny and strong? Lance Armstrong is lean and fairly strong but he doesn't look scawny at all.

Let's stop talking "hypotheticals".

I am rather "thin" (135/5'9") but AM (rather) strong for my size.

My choice. I think extreme "muscle boys" look silly. :p

scrawny. I'm not really into giant muscles or giant breasts. I prefer slightly more subtle aesthetics. I wouldn't want to look completely immaciated though.

Look strong. But strength is dependent on muscle size and where the muscle connects to the bone. If you get bigger you will be stronger.

Looking strong will attract females. Some girls like skinny guys too though. I'm pretty skinny, and a bit stronger than what people would expect me to be. That's just cause I did pushups went to teh gym etc, but didn't add a lot of muscle mass. I added a BIT of mass, and lots of definition. So I'm still not a big guy, but the muscle I do have is pretty efficient/strong .. well not anymore, but it used to be :p i knew guys with more muscle than me who couldn't do half the pushups, couldn't beat me in an arm wrestle, etc.. i was able to do 40-50 pushups without a second thought, and im just some skinny guy.

that doesn't mean someone who's larger will lose in a fight though. a bigger guy will almost always win in a fight. life isn't like the movies :p

UNLESS you know jujitsu. :p

Then the more skilled fighter wins. Or the faster or stronger or luckier fighter. ;)

There is a practical point of "diminishing return" for strength from muscle mass (in considering the whole person).

Not true i'm afraid, muscle density is a big factor, which is why most martial artists and people like that are easily as strong as people almost twice their size. :p

I prefer bein thin but strong, I wouldnt like to be some muscle-bound ape with a name like 'bruiser' or 'slasher'.

they're sort of loosely correlated. a lot of body builders are much less
strong than you'd think.

i've met men at powerlifting contests who weighed less than 150 lbs
and weren't particularly hypertrophied, but bench pressed 450.
