geez I can remember when I was 10 digging through my dads gun locker trying to find his SKS to show my friends and found all his lesbian porn, that stuff was much cooler than the stupid gun. the way I see it Porn is safer than guns

I'd wait until he was at least 12 to show him the porn. At 10 it wouldn't do him any good, the prepubescent lil' ah heck.
 
My friend once asked me if it was worse for:

A) Parents to find you watching porn

OR

B) Parents to find you playing CS.

Now this guy was major CS addict. He played too many hours a day and once got thrown out of the house for nearly a week when he was caught twice on the same night ALT+ TABBING out of CS.

BTW: 10 is too young. Wait till middle school.
 
A violent movie for sure. Or did you not know that your 10 year old probably experiences violence in the real world all the time? The struggle for dominance is still existent at that age. Well, at least it was for me. 10 years old almost puts him in middle school and I learned everything there was to life in middle school. 😛
 
if i was forced to choose, softcore porn.. my son is 2.5yrs old, and he's already obsessed with guns... they're definately not allowed in our house, especially after he started pointing his "gun" at people and saying "i kill you! pew pew pew".. his dad must let him watch violent movies (i'm his stepdad)
 
I voted violent movie. I'd rather my kid turned out to be a violent ass-kicker than a pussy-chasing Don Juan.
 
i haven't watched any porn so i really don't know what i'm missing (nor do i care). however, i saw my first rated R movie at age 10. while it's true that violence stems from violent media, it happens rarely. it's almost comparing a murderer-to-be to a plane crash. how many kids grow up normally? how many planes take off and land successfully? more so than you'd realize, because the media doesn't need to announce that a kid grew up normally or that a plane landed successfully. it's an availabilty heuristic.

i live a religious lifestyle, and exposing my son to pornography at that age (or any age, to be honest) is not something i'd want to do.
 
nothing wrong with porn.......was whacking away at least once a day before I ever saw "proper" porn.....Late night cable TV is great....


Plus if you let him watch porn when he is 10 you won't get sticky patches all over the place cause he won't be developed enough to spunk his muck everywhere!.....

Damn I got a surprise the first time I spunked my muck!!!LOL

yea, when a young child see's the human body twisted in unusual ways (no offense to contortonists =P) or filled with bullets or slashed up, they may get used to it and think of it as no big deal. They might not even associate it with pain or how it effects ppl other and may think, " grown-ups do it and therefore it's okay."

idealistic perspective?:
IMO the way this stuff is told/shown to children has not yet been dealt yet. Parents/Guardians ATM only avoid such contact, but I believe there has to be a way to educate children of material like this. Going through a slow, step-by-step method that eases them into the subject, but eventually goes through all aspects of it. How long is needed and in what way it's taught I leave for the future to tell.

Wow! Don?t you know that a teenager is by definition "sex addicted"? Ever read about "puberty"? Personally, I would use the term ?curious? rather than ?sex addicted?.



 
violent movie, only because there is a chance it might actually be good whereas softcore pornos are just shtty movies in general (poor plot, acting, etc.)
