What's the best part about teaching?

June, July, and August. :)

I live at the shore. Many of the businesses here go hard during June, July and August. The easier months are April, May, Sept and October. Then it's 6 months off. What a great life. 6 months on, and 6 months off.

Only thing that sucks is that it's the most expensive and busiest time of the year to travel anywhere and that you're confined to summer weather/activities. For example, most of Europe sucks during summer.

It's basically a revolving door. People who can't make it leave, to be immediately replaced by people trying to make it.

California the Multilevel Marketing version of a State! ;)

Pretty similar with accounting/consulting firm world. I always tell people we have higher turnover rates than McDonalds - but they keep on flooding in every year... All these hopes, dreams, aspiriations of "making a difference in the world"... all for me to crush their souls into pieces mahahahahaahaha.

No but seriously, our turnover rate is incredibly high - it's very likely that after you get a year or two on your resume with the names recruiters and other employers alike will be fondling your balls to get you to go elsewhere.

I’ve never worked at a company where they frowned on you for taking your vacation time. In fact, a couple of the companies I worked for kept track of my vacation time and would remind me to schedule it as soon as possible.

People who refuse to take their vacation time for fear of “looking bad” or being perceived as “lacking dedication” are suckers, even more so in this economy.

5 weeks for sure. I get 2.5 days a month from the DOD and it's fantastic. Can bank up to to 120 days in theory, but have to be at 60 days on Oct1, which is still amazing.

I'm taking 66 days of transition leave when I get out this October.

Even spring break is locally effed since 95% of MI schools have the same spring break. It's also much harder to take time off other than whats already a school calendar break. You can still find deals although its much harder than September or October. We're doing Amsterdam for $375RT in August and did Stockholm flights for $575 last June\July (which I don't think is too bad considering we had zero flexibility on dates for that)

Yep, the fall is where it is at though I actually did see a surprising number of summer deals in late winter/early spring. Going to Portugal at the end of September and then Germany in December for the Xmas markets. We didn't get the greatest fares but we scored decent deals.

That and it's going to be hot as bloody hell pretty much any vacation destination you go to. Though I guess it would be a good time for some kind of arctic cruise or something. I always thought that would be fun to do. Imagine being in the middle of the ocean and seeing all the northern lights and stars at their brightest.
