Eh... i'm between choices. My gf is going to go to berk probably so I don't know really. I"m majoring in poly sci and the programs seem pretty equivalent at all campuses.

Any alumns here?

Davis you'll be closer to your GF, but I'd choose Irvine. Where are you from?

<-- UCD Grad, now living in Seattle. S.O. is a UW grad.

UW definitely has the prettier campus (Davis is pretty... er, eclectic, in architecture.) Davis has some great academic programs though. Irvine shouldn't even be in the running for you - not a nice campus, not a great academic program, etc. UW and UCD are about equal in my mind, just depends on where you want to live.

I'd pick UC Davis. Seattle has a lot of pretentious snobs. Oh whoops. I shouldn't have said that. I'm moving there for the summer.

For any of you UW guys, have you ever had a problem w/ there being too many people commuting? That is kind of what I liked about davis since everyone lives in the college town at most.

UCSD's a lot of fun. I like the atmosphere. If I were you, I would either go socal or out of state.

Cheaper to live in Davis than up here in Seattle. The bus routes at UCD are awesome - you can catch the bus for free from just about anywhere in town, and most routes run at least once every half hour. All student drivers. If you go to UW you'll want to live close to campus.

For me, a choice like this would come down to location. Do you like large cities? If so, UW is going to be the spot for you. Lots going on, everything very tightly packed and centrally located. If you like a more laid back area, Davis will do it. Sacramento doesn't have nearly the life that Seattle does, so there's less to do. Folks in Davis would probably go play ultimate frisbee where UW folks would go grab coffee.

are you a CA resident? i'd go with UW if tuition were the same and UCI if you're a CA resident and don't want to pay for out of state fees.

I'm a CA resident and the out of state tuition is really not that much more, so my parents said they wouldn't mind paying it. It still is no where near the cost of any of the privates in CA.

UCI! I'm stuck between UCI and Davis but leaning heavily towards Irvine. If you do choose Irvine, let me know. Maybe we can have sex. Oh wait, I let out my secret!

Edit: and in response to the above post, UW tuition is $40k a year right? UC tuition is $22k. Es una diferencia mejor.

naww the UW tuition is 16,000, that is much lower than the 20,000 UC charges for out of state. Yeah the location of irvine was really nice, I really hate driving through LA though.

I'm a poli sci major at uci. We have some seriously phenomenal professors. Of course some of them are more boring than stale bagels, but there are many that teach classes where you actually enjoy learning the material (I doubt the same can be said of many CE/CS majors :) ). I just drove up this weekend to Davis to visit my friends for a birthday party and skiing at Tahoe, and if you're used to farmlands, then maybe you'll like it, but I'm so glad I didn't go to that school. Actually, the 1.5hr distance to Tahoe is the only reason I'd want to go there, aha. Don't know anything about Washington.
