Interesting. I actually find it easier to eat and drink while on the PC since your two hands operate a bit more independently of each other on a keyboard as opposed to when you are using a controller, but maybe I'm just used to it now.

Yeah, my friend brought over his 360 and I tried some Halo online... I'd say I played like I was hammered off my ass, but I'm pretty sure I still play better than that on PC when I'm drunk.

Aye, it's like apples and oranges playing an FPS on PC versus a console.

I wish we could see players go head to head, but as far as I remember the capapbilities are not really there yet. Would also have to do something about the auto-aim, or whatever they call it, that's added to the console FPS games before this could work fairly.

Console stereos are so '60s

j/k

The wife got me a PS3 for Christmas. I haven't gamed in like 5 years because I learned to game with the greatest PC controller ever made, the SpaceOrb360, and then they went out of business. I tried to use a mouse and keyboard, but failed, or maybe I was too used to being good to really want to suffer through being bad for a while.

i'd upgrade my PC because my costs are generally not high (full overhaul withstanding). ex: i could get a new video card for ~$30-40 after selling my current one and see significant improvement. same with CPU.

Ok since we are all made of money, when the next console comes out or when I need to sell some games to get a new game I got more people to sell to on console than a PC.

Same could be said about cars, I would buy a Honda/Toyota knowing I would get more for it in resale or after a wreck from insurance. Even if I didn't use them as "much"

ok....but what does that have to do with what i said?

I was a PC-gaming guy for many years, until I finally gave in and bought an Xbox (and, later, a 360, which is still working two years in without a RROD - knock on wood). At this point I can't see myself going back.

Staying current with a PC is expensive, but at least in the old days it had a benefit outside of gaming - I could feel a real difference in all my computing when I moved from a P2-233 to a Celeron running at 450, for example. Nowadays, even a three-year-old PC provides solid performance in all desktop applications (unless you do a lot of very CPU-intensive computing - I don't). All the $600 video cards in the world won't mean much for most usage outside of games.

I have a nice home theater, and for gaming, there's no substitute to relaxing on the couch with a beer and enjoying thundering audio and a 50" screen. The idea of going back to sitting at a desk with a 20" monitor feels like punishment to me. Nowadays most of my computing is done on a MacBook, and my gaming is split between my 360 and my iPhone.

Oh yeah, you and I know that, but there are many out there that don't realize it.

Not to mention that more than one person can easily play on a console.

I do both.

There are enough games that are PC-only or better on PC (mods) to justify a PC.

There are enough console-only games, and games with lousy PC ports, to justify a console or two. I have a PS2 (JPRGs, platforms, misc.) and PS3 (blu-ray, exclusives) and will add a wii and 360 if I ever get caught up on my unplayed games stack.

I haven't bought a console system since the PS2 came out... I just upgrade parts of my desktop as needed, with the major upgrades only coming every 2 years or so.

When it comes to modifications, PC definitely takes the cake. But gameplay, I know that the console fares a bit better, mainly because of the controller. Hence why I'm going to get a xbox360 usb controller.

That being said, if I want to get a PS3, my brother says that I need get a nice TV with it too, but I can't remember the reason why. But right now that would run me something like $1000, no? ($400 console, $500 TV)

If you're running a PS3 on a SDTV, you'll be running at a much lower resolution.
I have a Logitech wireless Rumblepad for PC, it might be a better deal than a 360 controller (it's PS2-style if that makes a difference).

I've been using the Logitech Rumblepad for 3 years now. I love it, although my buttons have been used enough that it warrants getting a new one.

Do you think I should get a new one or get the xbox usb? I want the xbox controller because the top trigger buttons have a range of motion, rather than just completely depress of the button.

I like PC gaming but if all you're playing are sports games, then why would you buy more PC upgrades? Sports games are better on consoles.

For me personally I already have a console but my PC could use an upgrade. But if you're playing FIFA and NBA, why play them on PC?

I would have said upgrade my PC, but I just got a netbook and realized that all I do with a PC anymore I can do on that. I guess my next upgrade may be an XBOX360.

Because I'd have to get a new TV as well if I wanted to get a PS3.

Can't I have both? Consoles are nice, but a faster PC can do more for me than just play video games.. On the other hand, consoles generally don't crash or have to be configured, and the games just work.

Given the choice, I'd rather play games on the console. Only 1st person shooters are better on PC because of mouse-aim, everything else is usually better on a console.

I'd say graphics tend to be about the same.. Every once in a while one will leapfrog ahead of the other but the difference is never very great and the advantage does not persist for long.

edit: I could live with a gaming PC only, but not a console only or a console and a non-gaming PC.

I have a 360 that I never play and a PC that I game on daily. I'm going to keep the 360 and blow the dust off of it every now and then, but my PC is so much more versatile than the console.

Consoles suck for FPS games. KB + mouse FTW.

Since I play mostly FPS or RTS games, screw the console.

I'm not really a big gamer but if I was big on games, probably console. Why? because it seems every time a new game comes out for PC, it has insane requirements, and some kind of new technology, forcing you to buy a new video card if you want to play it.

Last year, I thought I'd get a console, but I haven't turned on my PS3 in months so what's the point. Maybe if I had a separate TV I'd play it more (hate switching inputs on my monitor).

I like spending money on my computer so I might as well game on it too.

If your main games are NBA 2K and FIFA, you'd better be playing them on a console. Does NBA 2K for the PC even let you play online?

No you can't. :(

Edit: Dang, I just found that out. That really sucks.

Hmmm. Well I haven't opened either item yet. Maybe I'll return it and put that $250 towards a PS3.

Upgrade PC, totally. I almost exclusively play PC games, and I need more processing power and HD space ATM. I do enjoy the Wii quite a bit, but my Wii was taken by my ex, and I can play other people's Wii just as well. Just gotta carry a GameCube controller around with me, and I'll be set.
