What was the original ticket cost before late fees. I would pay the original ticket amount.. but not the late fees. It's your fault he got the ticket. What if the same thing happened to your car? wouldnt you want/make him pay it as well?

If I was gone and he moved it, yes. However, if I was here and refused to move my own car, I would like to think that I wouldn't expect it. I wouldn't know though, because I always move my car when I need to.

It's not like you *meant* to park the car in the wrong place. He could have done the very same thing.

really? what kind of idiot driver "accidentally" parks on the lawn?

what kinda idiot city gives out tickets for parking on a lawn? I know mine does and their reason is (rumored) to keep everything looking beautiful. I assume its cause they don't want patches of yellow grass, but wtf its my property~!

since you answered your own question, I don't know why you bothered posting....

Well I didn't park on the lawn. I had one wheel on bare dirt between the driveway and garage. Because of our parking situation, you can't park in our driveway straight if you want to fit all of our cars.

If somebody is in a hurry, they might not be paying attention to where they were parked...i.e. on the little strip of dirt next to a driveway. Futhermore, they might not even realize that it's a ticketable offense. Don't be so self-righteous.

you moved the car, and illegally parked it. so technically, thats some responsibility on you. but only because your roommate refused to do so.

its your roomies car, so hes is ultimately responsible for what happens to it. he placed that responsiblity on you, because he was being an a$$hole, depending on what he was doing. nothing productive doesnt necessarily mean something you can break away from with little to no important consequences. but in the end, its still his car.

the thing that you havent addressed is whether or not you knew one tire was in the grass, and this could result in a fine, when you left it. if i did, i would pay half. your roommate coulda been having a really crap day, and snapped at you. happens to all people who live together. but that would be no reason to purposely try to screw him over. that would make you just as big an ahole, IMO. im giving you the benefit of the doubt, tho.

if i was your roommate, i would pay the fine, shake your hand, give you a  and apologize for being a d!ck. its his car, he didnt move it when he could have, and the car is ultimately his responsibility.

what do your other buds think?

I neither knew that a tire was off the driveway, nor did I know that something like that would result in a fine.

As far as what he was doing, he was watching prOn on his computer.

I'm not really sure how my other roommates feel because I really don't want to drag them into this whole ordeal.

You should pay. But he might take it as a sign that you will move his car from now on. So make him pay half.

Next time you are blocked in by this person dont say anything to him just call the police and have his car towed.

Who's name/licence number is on the ticket? If some lazy sh!thead said "Go fvck yourself"
to me they would be getting more than just a parking ticket. Don't whimp out. This dipsh!t
needs to learn that his car is ultimately his responsibility.

why don't you just toss away the ticket like nothing happened? that's his car, his liability. after it happened, if he talks sh*t about it, just ignore him, his car after all. now, go to have

Move into your own place. Solves all the problems. He can't hold the ticket against you. His car was ticketed. It is his responsibility in the eyes of the law.

That being said, moving is probably not practical at this point. Still, it is his car and his responsibility as far as the law is concerned. In order to make peace, I would offer to split the ticket with him, but no more.

Pay the ticket. But I'd like to know how often you move your car for other people and how often others move the car for you. Re: Your roommate not moving the car, is this a situation where everyone moves their car except for that one person, or is it generally the person who is blocked moves the car?

So, if the person who is blocked normally moves the car, then you should pay it. If the person who is blocking usually moves it, then he should pay it.

Well I decided to pay half of the ticket + late fee and he blew up. It was a fairly heated argument and I doubt we'll be talking for a while.

who put the fscking tire on the lawn? You did. Just because he was busy wanking it and didnt want to jump up and move his car doesnt mean the ticket is his fault. Every other time you have had to move a car did you get a ticket? When he made you move it he trusted you to be able to park the damn car right.

Its an unfortunate situation, but your actions caused the ticket, grow up and take responsibility
