Would you pay more to not buy stuff made in China?

And not just a couple things...I mean everything.

Lets say everything would cost 10% more. Would you pay to not have to support the Chinese and start supporting Americans again?

if quality were the same or better, yes. my wife constantly checks labels now to see where things were made and opts against items made in china.

Sure, we wouldn't get toys drenched in lead paint for our children for one. And if my neighbors can get a job because they are making things again, they won't be robbing me.

yes. I do this with most items where it is feasible, and it's usually a lot more than 10%, but can vary I suppose...

Absolutely, and I already do. I'd like to see things made in America or Europe, and built with 1950s robustness. I'd happily pay $800 for a printer if parts were made well, and replaceable, and I didn't get raped on ink.

Probably not. Nationalistic pride is just not enough of an incentive, and some vague 'it will help the economy' doesn't help when I have less money to spend on other things.
That is the problem. The only way to level the playing field is to use some sort of sanctions. If the stuff from China and America are the same price, sure I'd buy American.

Yes...Probably up to 25% more, but that numbers out of my ass.

Give me a product and a price, then I'll think about it.

I'd pay more to buy stuff from Mexico. If they had a good manufacturing base, it would take less fuel to get things here, and it would help keep them in their own country.

Yes, easily 10-20% more if the quality was the same. More if the quality was higher.

Good point. Making Mexico a better and safer place to live would reduce the incentive to come here illegally. That's one of the reasons why I support ending drug prohibition to cut off the money supply to the cartels there.

Yeah but I dont usually have the option. Damn near everything I see is now made in China.
Just got my mom a supposedly nice Davek umbrella (mini style) for 50 bucks.
Made in China. Broke first time she used it.

China makes Ka-Bars as well.

lol american manufacturing sucks so bad now i actually look and make sure its made in china. havent had a problem with anything chinese made evar

Absolutely. As it stands now I routinely pay quite a bit extra for products manufactured in Japan, made for the Japanese market.

I just wish there was an easier way to tell if products were 100% manufactured in the USA or just assembled here from parts produced abroad.
