I'd pay top dollar if I'd wanted to make a HTPC with ubercool software features and top-notch 2D quality.

There is more to life than games.

That said, I have no interest in an HTPC for now. My progressive scan DVD players are sufficient for me.

hell no.. i wouldn't even pay 400 bucks on a video card. i am not into bragging rights. my geforce 4 is making me very happy at the moment. it does everything i need. not to mention you will never be ahead of the game. once you buy a top of the line video card it becomes outdated pretty quickly.

ya but the gefoce4 was ~400$ new, at least for the 4600, and if you bought it later it is only going to be outdated quicker. contrary to what you imply, some of us acutaly buy the latest and greatest to enjoy it for what it is, not to brag to others about it.


as for the card in question, i cannot see much of a market for it and i would defnefintaly have to pass it up personaly.

I asume they are targeting videophiles. There is no other logical explanation for that website. Anyone able to purchase a $5000.00 dollar monitor (plasma) will laugh at a $575.00 video card. I like the post directly after the original. The question is, Who will be buying these cards? Everyone is trying to make a buck these days. Gota be careful..

Nobody in their right mind would buy that, even driver support for the Kyro2 has ceased so it's useless.

Well, it appears there's a market for this ... besides, it is quite an effort to support nonstandard display hardware PROPERLY, and with the low numbers this thing is going to sell, the price is well justified.

Actually with Powerstrip, most ATI and nVidia video cards can output HDTV compatible resolutions and timing signals. So this thing seems like just a big ripoff.
