Nope. I could buy a blow up doll for just a few bucks and end up with less plastic.

Easy to say when you're not the one that's the object of scorn and mockery.I personally think it's great that these gals are able to get help that they wouldn't otherwise be able to.

If we should all just accept what we've got and run with it then I suppose people here will stop obsessive gym going and exterme dieting, they'll also stop all teeth whitening/straightening/capping adventures,we'll stop highlighting our hair, tanning and all the other things we do that are not needed to simply keep decent health?

Well one of these girls has a pathetic useless husband who needs to be kicked to the curb, and the other one is just a big whiney cry baby who REALLY needs psychiatric attention. It's one thing being unattractive but weeping over it constantly is even worse.

Spoken like an attractive person who has no real clue what daily life is like for the unattractive.Just look even here at the insults and horrid comments heaped on those deemed unattractive, imagine going thru life having that kind of stuff dumped on you almost daily, you'd weep too.
Oh please. Neither of these women were born with 8 eyes. For one thing both of them were grossly out of shape. That is a result of their own attention. It's ironic that they'd cry and moan about their looks, but not even take any action to change them. How typical of people though, eh?

My question is how is it helpful to reshape your physical image to a nebulous concept of beauty?
Cosmetic surgery has its place, perhaps, but self-esteem does not begin with body-image IMHO.

Anyway, all that aside they still need psychiatric help. Looking at their life stories like a trip down agony lane. One of them had the father who said not to expect much from her and the hubby who says the same sort of thing. Dental surgery and a tan won't fix that.

Are you ugly and had a hard time growing up? Everyone gets picked on for some reason - it's how you deal with it that matters. Don't lump all unattractive people together. I'm a very unattractive person with birth deformations and I got picked on unmercifully for it during school. I didn't let it phase me - I have a ton of friends and would never dream of changing myself physically - it's a part of who I am.

Fugly people need to stop letting other people dictate their happiness. The are FAR worse things to be than unpretty.

Since we have no real idea of how many diet plans these folks have tried over their lifetimes I won't comment.I will say I've know people who have been heavy since infancy and that change is a lot harder for them.

I'd also say that your comments sound like the grumblings of one who might be a tad jealous, they got surgical help with predicatable and fairly certain outcomes, you and I have to exist on a diet of cottage cheese and endless crunches without such certainty of outcome.

In our society a woman's worth is most definately measured in large part based on what she looks like and if you say that isn't so you're kidding yourself. Wanting help to level the playing field a bit isn't wrong imho and I'm glad for these women.Perhaps looking better will give them enough courage and self confidence to tell the haters in their lives to eat dust!

Try comparing apples to apples. Most of the things you mentioned above are nothing near as dangerous as surgery.

Since we have no real idea of how many diet plans these folks have tried over their lifetimes I won't comment.
I have truly no sympathy for somebody who says they can't lose weight because "nothing seems to work." The diets work - the people don't. They fall off the band wagon, lack the motivation or will power, and just get lazy. It's their fault, nobody else's.
I will say I've know people who have been heavy since infancy and that change is a lot harder for them.
That's for sure. I know that i can pile on weight much easier than many others. Losing it is harder too, but it can still be done. It's just harder, but I never will cry about it, because I know that ultimately if I want to lose weight i have total control and power to do so. Fat doesn't come out of thin air.
I'd also say that your comments sound like the grumblings of one who might be a tad jealous, they got surgical help with predicatable and fairly certain outcomes, you and I have to exist on a diet of cottage cheese and endless crunches without such certainty of outcome.
No jealousy. The outcome of excercise and diminished calories is as definite as the rising of the sun. It's a physiological impossibility to get fat without excess calories. Whether your body's BMR is a million calories a day or 6 calories a day you absolutely cannot and will not get fat unless you eat too much for it. Now sure there are a few cases here and there where people can't take a standard approach to diet due to health issues and peculiar problems, but they are such a minority as to not even be worth consideration.
Fugly people need to stop letting other people dictate their happiness. The are FAR worse things to be than unpretty.
I had that impression the other day watching a guy with severe burns over his entire body. He was in a car fire and lucky to be alive, but he was at home with his family and it quicly put into perspective the fact that although he's now ugly as sin, his life can still be just as meaningful as anybody else's. Obsessing over apperance to the point where one actually _cries about it_ is beyond sad. It's pitiful in the extreme and indicative of an unbalanced soul. It's understandable if you're a child, since children are easily stirred, but a grown adult crying over something like that on TV? Get real! The burn victim guy didn't seem to give a damn about it, because he was still alive, and then you've got some woman who has a penchant for krispe kremes crying and lamenting on national tv.

Ah but they are things that are done to eliminate/change aspects of physical appearance we deem unattractive. If living with what nature saw fit to give us is so desirable perhaps we should all follow our own advice?

My point to you is that even with diet and exercise we cannot with certainty sculpt our bodies to our liking,as evidenced by folks at the gym who are quite visibally lean but still have saddle bags or pear shapes that are out of proportion with the rest of their bodies.

Also imagine what it must be like to have a father/mother saying things like "don't expect much from her" any psych problems these women have were fed to em right from the cradle and then pounded into em every day after that.

We are judged by what we look like and in many circle's a woman's total worth is based on her appearance.I don't blame these women in the slightest for taking the help available.

That is true. There are certain things that you can't do without help. You can't do pec deck until you've got large breasts. I have no problem with people getting some cosmetic surgery. I've paid for professional tooth whitening. To me it was worth it, but I don't obsess over my looks. They are just one fraction of my interests. If I had teeth that looked like I like to chew on rocks I'd get them fixed as well.

I know - they need shrinks!

I don't blame them either. It's a lot of free surgery and they do look better, and looking good is nice. I am just saying that it's more important, in their cases, to be medicated and/or receive counselling (probably medicating would be going overboard :)).

You're grasping at straws. You can't possible sit there with a straight face and tell me that the same mentality that causes people to want to tan/whiten teeth/work out/etc is the same mentality that causes one to want to spend thousands of dollars and risk their life to look better.

I never said we should live with what nature saw fit - just that we shouldn't put ourselves at risk for beauty. There are ways to alter your body that are not harmful - tanning, teeth whitening, clipping toenails, cutting hair, washing ass, using moisturizer, etc.

The people who get plastic surgery measure the potential risks and benefits of the procedure to their health and their lives. They have obviously decided that the potential gains well outweigh the risks involved. As long as they have the info to make an informed choice I don't think it's our business to tell em they need to stay ugly.Btw,surgeical methods get simpler and safer every day,if some aspect of a person's appearance bothers them and it can be fixed, why not?

Exactly. Deciding that you want to change your looks so badly that you'll go under the knife takes a certain mental trait, and that mental quality is something that I find extremely unattractive. I really don't care what people do with their bodies, but I surely don't have to like it and accept it.
