no...maybe they weren't the best looking set of girls before...

but there's something wrong with going on national TV to get plastic surgery and compete against other sugerified girls....its like they want to be pretty, but the whole country will know how they REALLY look...

and knowing TV stations, they probably got girls who all have some sort of issue or personality conflict

just my 3.5 cents.

no. those girls have about zero dignity in my eyes. i can't even begin to say what's wrong with this entire show, and if it hadn't crept along in the natural progression of reality shows (ie, it had debuted about 10 years ago), it would have caused a national outcry and had everyone at fox fired.

I'd say any gal who's got the cleverness and nerve needed to get herself selected to get 10's of thousands of dollars worth of surgical help that
she otherwise couldn't afford is somebody worth meeting. There is nothing at all wrong with wanting to maximize your social prospects.Considering the crude, rude treatment many of these gals have most likely received over the years due to their appearance I think it's great that they have the gumption to grab the chance to improve their lives and level the playing field a little!

I'm not convinced.

Heck, I'm ugly, but I would never do something like this. It just doesn't seem right...

Sitting alone because you're physically repulsive to the opposite sex is "right" though? Sorry I don't agree.

Judging by the women on the first episode, they would need a couple years of daily therapy to resolve their "issues" and mentally catch up with their appearance before I would find them attractive.

Physically, I can't say the starting facial features were so bad, but the self-doubt and insecurity all over their faces was unattractive even after the transformations.

The way the one woman was talking with her husband on the phone didn't exactly make her seem like a fun wife to live with either. Very critical and demanding.

Many of these women are going to put the weight back on after the show and all they'll be left with is their plastic faces. The whole exercise is reprehensible. I don't plan on missing an episode...

It just seems fake to me. I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that people only like me because I had some cosmetic changes, and not because I'm me. I'd feel like my life is a lie.

And I know what sitting alone feels like... and I still think it is the better option by far.

Previous looks don't bug me tHAT much, but you know that with the two women yesterday for example they'll just fall apart anyway. Could they have picked a couple of women any more pathetic? These ladies needed psychiatrists, not makeovers. They'll resume their lives of eating and not looking out for themselves in short order, I've no doubt.

i didnt see the show, only a minute of it with the bonde looking in the mirror.

Anyway...its right with the "genes" thing - but on the other hand, see it from that side:

What people (women) do anyway is nothing else, eg. working out, eating healthy, buying cosmetics, putting on make-up, buying clothes which 'look good', getting boobie implants, tanning, teeth whitening, styling their hair.....etc...etc.....
So...from that point of view a surgery is only a more drastic measure than what people do already for their appearance in their every day lifes.

Look at all the celebs..the female ones, in Hollywood..who does NOT have "some" surgery......supermodels are hardly/rarely BORN looking as they look on the cover of Maxim after 10 dozen stylists fix their 'looks' ....

Yeah, they really need serious help....in this case, it is more what is on the inside to make them attractive.....

Yeah, but you look at the host of the tv show yesterday. She was far more attractive than either of the other two, and I bet you she's had a lot less money thrown at her. You can cut a person to make them look prettier, but we're not to the point yet where predisposition can be totally overridden.

Unfortunately what's on the inside doesn't get you a date or give you a leg up in a job interview. One's looks might only get you in the front door but it's entirely reasonable to seek help and changes when your looks close the damn door to start with.

My view isn't popular, but I still hold the opinion that anyone that would have dangerous, elective, cosmetic surgery to mutilate their body into different shapes has serious mental issues. This includes boob jobs too.

I wouldn't date any of the "Swans".

Well one of these girls has a pathetic useless husband who needs to be kicked to the curb, and the other one is just a big whiney cry baby who REALLY needs psychiatric attention. It's one thing being unattractive but weeping over it constantly is even worse.

Spoken like an attractive person who has no real clue what daily life is like for the unattractive.Just look even here at the insults and horrid comments heaped on those deemed unattractive, imagine going thru life having that kind of stuff dumped on you almost daily, you'd weep too.
