utilities would probably be more than the payment on the place....

thats a cool building
but heating that place would probably cost a fortune
you might have to partition it off to cut down on costs.

i would have two GIGANTIC fireplaces on either end. i'm talking ones that you could stand upright in. i'm talking ones that burn TREES, not chopped wood. now that would be cool.

Install a waste oil powered heat and setup a drop off box for people to drop off their spent motor oil.

I would buy that thing in a hearbeat also. I love working on stuff, so that would be a great place. You could take on section and turn it into a shop with a bunch of wood working equipment to build whatever you might need.

But seriously, here's another bonus...if the pews are still in there, I could restore them and make a shitload of money selling them

You might want to check to see what would be required to get an occupancy permit.

Jebus that is one sweet deal. If it is in good condition, grab that sucker. Fix it up and over time take down the religious features of the building (maybe on other side there is some big jesus statue hehe I can't see).

It could turn into some nice commercial real estate that you could sell or do whatever.

But damn. 6000 sq ft for 10 large americans? I'd go for it.

Cool idea, but you're going to need to do a TON of modifications before you can live in that thing! Although it probably has a decent bathroom, you're probably going to need to build the bedroom, living room, kitchen, and garage from scratch.

Sounds like a good buy, although be sure of the costs of renovating it prior to the purchase.

Its not a very churchy looking church but its still cool. I watch that Extreme Homes show on the Home and Garden channel every now and again and they have showed a few church houses on it. They are usually pretty cool. If you click the show all episode links at the bottom you can click on the episodes with churches and see a few crappy pics.

That would be sweet to make it look like a fortress... it kinda has that shape.. like really square from the outside..

Anyway, if the basement could make for a nice room, the main room would great for a party room :)

Hell, if the floor is tiled you could play basketball inside ;)

for a cost less then a new car, at least check the place out. You might end up spending some money on redoing some things or adding a few walls to make more rooms, but whatever. Seems pretty cool.

Friends of mine bought an old one room schoolhouse and made it into their home... very cool. They added a second floor and kept the downstairs one big room, except for the kitchen. It came out very well.
