broadband is cool and all, but is it really THAT important? so you cant download music or videos very fast and web pages take a few more seconds to load, big deal. i just dont think its important enough to be a major influence when looking for a place to live.

Hahah.....my parents bought a house here in the sticks and I had to live without broadband for two freakin years. I was calling roadrunner and Bellsouth ADSL until they finally brought it out here. TWO FREAKING YEARS OF DIAL-UP! Plus, the phone lines here are crap! You could only connect at 26,400 bps! :Q

we had to get the phone company out here to fix our phone line so we could get 26.4. before that we were getting between 12k and 16.8k. shared between 3 computers.

Didn't think I would but I did.

When we found "the house" and were filling out the offer paperwork and I found out there was no broadband available I almost considered canceling the offer. The reality is though that BB will be available before the end of the year and I'm very happy with the house I have.

I'm currently living in an apartment with no broadband or dialup. TV, writing, and going out have become larger parts of my life since then.

WTF? You guys would base where you live by the amount of bandwidth that is available to you?!:disgust:

Yeah I'd be able to live somewhere w/out highspeed internet as long as I have access to highspeed at work :p
I wouldn't switch to dial up voluntarily, but if I had to I'd be able to survive on dial-up since I just do online banking and occasional emails at home.

I do all my heavy surfing & d/l here at work, much faster than my cable at home.

Yep.

I moved one town over to get away from Adelphia cable. Comcast is a huge difference, and I have a better condo.

i'd want cable.

b/c if the place couldn't have it, then you couldn't get cable t.v.

There are plenty of places you can get cable TV but not cable internet.

the way it was phrased "cannot have broadband" was that no cable could be laid into the ground...how could you get cable t.v. if no wires are able to be laid down, for internet or t.v.

or maybe i'm just an idiot.

well, i live outside of a small town, there's cable internet available in town but i'm about half a mile out of range for city cable. we've had cable TV out here for the past 15 years but our cable provider doesn't offer cable internet.

Not willingly. After that whole debacle at WSU where I was sick for a month and a half (thusly dropping out) I had to leave my 7+ T1s behind and return home to nothing but 56k, and over shoddy lines as well! My new apartment can get DSL though, 784-1.5M up, 256 down for $40 per month, so I'll be okay. Just gotta get them over here.

lack of broadband internet access isn't the end of life.

If it were a nice house for a good price I can live without broadband.
