A good friend of mine moved up there with her husband for the money.

What would be your price to move up there?

Keep in mind, you still get internet, tv, etc. 6,000 people population.

rofl why would you want to live up there? it's mostly Natives there, sub-arctic temps and hardly any people.

tv would probably be either satellite or some kind of local Native stuff.. not to mention suicide, depression, drug abuse, vandalism are prevalent in most Native reserves (and while I understand Nunavut is MOSTLY Natives, I doubt I could handle that AND the average temperature is 5 to -25 degrees F (not C)..

It would have to be at least a couple hundred thousand, and then I would only do it for maybe 2-3 years..

although I prefer cooler temperatures, that looks just a bit too cold for my liking ;) not to mention the inconvenience of living in the middle of nowhere

For the money? How much are they paid?

Well, seeing as how i hate Canadian natives, probably not.

Maybe. I hate the heat (but of course that place isn't just cool..) and keep to myself most of the time.

I'd live in Alaska if I was gonna go that far north though.

Not on your effin' life! And I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I know.
No amount of money?

I'm creeping up on six figures here... (Edit: and there's no state income or sales tax so other than federal income tax I get to keep most of it) and I'm leaving. 33 winters. I give up. I'm tired of being cold six months out of the year. I've been offered more to stay but no way.

6 figures for what? Just to live there or a job?

It would have to be a lot of money to get me to live there, and I'd only live there short term. I don't like cold and I love doing outdoor activities. I pay a large premium to own a home here in CA, and it's worth it to me for the great weather. It would take a lot of money to make me give that up.

So I think it would be more than a million for a year to be in that horrible cold place. Plus, there better be a huge well-equipped gym there with pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, etc. etc. Otherwise the price would go way up.

Oh, and I'd need those special lights to prevent that seasonal depression thing too.

YMMV, I live in a regular city with most of my family and all of my friends. So for me, it wouldn't even be an option.
