I always push "Y" at the gas pump.

I have this irrational fear that I will be chased down by the cops for stealing gas the one time I don't get the receipt.

So, of course that's never once actually happened, so I am left with piles of receipts in my car that I just end up throwing away every few months.

I have weened myself off receipts at the ATM, but I can't make myself do it at the gas pump.

I always get receipts from everything, particularly at the ATM as I always want to see my balance to ensure it matches what I think it should (maybe paranoid, but I can't help it).

i always get the paper and put it in the pooka in the car, in case they chase me and want proof i paid

i bet younger kids that grew up with pay @ pump are less likely to be paranoid like us

When my banks ATM asks if you want a reciept I press no, it says thank you then spits one out anyway.

no receipts thanks. though I get receipts at Speedway to see my reward balance, they always get stuffed into the door bin, my personal trash receptacle.

Everywhere else, I decline receipt if asked. Just more paper for me to throw away.

I keep similar records. 30.7 MPG here (2002 Honda Civic, which is worse than the 35 MPG I had hoped for). It has used 3130.3 gallons to date.

I never keep the receipt for anything. I especially hate it when at the gas pump it spits one out without asking. I just leave it hanging there.

I always ask for a receipt. I really hate the automated pump stations that tell you to go inside for a receipt though.

I can get records from anytime easily via mint.com or my credit union's website so I never keep receipts.

You are assuming they are always correct. I keep my receipts to verify against the bank records and have actually found mistakes in the past. Rare, but it happens.
