Would you kill one child to save the world?

If the whole world was going to die of a desease, and one child had the power to change it all by dying and transplanting all of his/her blood to the cure, do you think that someone has the right to kill that person to save all the people. Its for the greater good is it not?

I'll et you know when the fate of the world hinges on one child's future, and I'm the only one with the power to make that decision.

I hate these ridiculously irrelevant hypothetical questions.

Yes, I will do it.

basicly, I either kill 6 billion people, or I kill 1 person. Easy choice.

Unless I'm in a bad mood, then I might just let everyone die.

my thought exactly :frown:

yes. it's just like marty said. if you don't kill him, you kill a lot of other children. wouldn't want to be in that situation, but i can't imagine choosing to kill more people.

NO, I would not. I would ask the child though. and would only kill him/her is he/she understood and agreed.

Who are you to deny an existing life a chance, to meet the selfish ends of others?

<< gotsmack-NO, I would not >>

but thousands of kids die everyday with you knowing this but why do you care about this one child?

hell our goverment ready to shoot down a plane with 300 people or more just to save some building or presidents ass

It depends on if the child wants to die, underatanding and considering all factors. Unless you mean a baby/child who does not understand the world or others, then the answer to your uestion would be that I am glad I will never be in this kind of a situation.

The entire race of man be damned.

What sort of civilization is this we live in, which we would deny life to an innocent child in order to further our own selfish goals.

This is not civilization. We are no longer fit to be called men. We are but savages upon this Earth, looking down upon others and spitting on them. such as the silkworm mocks the spider.

I ask of you, where is you sence of honor?

When has it become selfish to love life?

don't flip my argurment around on me. It is totally different when you preserve this love for your own existence by removing another (non threatening life) from existence.

Poetic and impassioned. I find your comments intriguing.

i'll break it down for you:

6 billion people die versus 1 child dies

i would make that choice even if i were not involved (either i was going to live or die no matter what).

it's a matter of numbers.

I ask of you again

Where is the honor in prolonging existence if it must be done with the actions of a coward, thief, and murderer?

No, it is a matter of morals.

Is it really that of a coward? I think of it more along the lines of "take one for the team". I seriously doubt many people would give their lives for that sort of purpose... which begs the question, which is the better choice? The survival of the collective, or the rights and wishes of one?

Is that selfish of the collective, or is it merely survival instinct?

Sidenote: Maybe it's just because I'm a Christian - I find an interesting parallel between this question and the situation faced by Christ; He gave His life for the whole of mankind; which only His blood could save. 😀

That's just me, though.
