didn't know you enjoyed being a martyr.

Are you planning on dating now you are single or just happy with the grandmother's needs?

She has no needs. If she did I would not have suggested that she move in. Divorce is still not final and my lawyer suggested I wait until it is before dating.

So during your divorce which you are going without dating, you are going to just move you grandmother in?

Is this to win court points or something you are not mentioning?

Seems the worst possible time for this decision...

Has nothing to do with anything other then just wanting to help her out. She is really cool. And I have no use for the downstairs. My top 2 lvls are plenty.

In many cultures it is important to respect the needs of the elderly. White people in general seem to be the only ones with the "Ship them off to a home who the hell cares" mentality.

I'd say if you have that much space it would not be hard to accomodate. Sure, go for it!

just realize that if she needed to move, it would probably destroy your relationship.... also any problem if she died there also? Just may happen you know. Otherwise it's a great ideo to me

It's great to have company. especially having grandpa/ma around, they'll be very happy knowing that someone really cared for them.

Maybe if she was still mentally sound. But even then I didn't know her all that well, though she was very kind to us. She's currently in a home and 1/2 the time barely knows who she herself is. She usually recognizes family members but sometimes not and she's definitely a mere shadow of her former self.

If you were married or with a full time SO I'd say 'maybe'.

Dating is problematic even with the coolest of roommates yet alone some older person.

Being in another thread you said you paid for all your homes with cash, why not buy her a small investment property or cover / subsidize rent for her?

problematic... lol... i'd say more like impossible. hahahah :awe:
