My landlord last year was named Wang. We had our flat listed in the phone book as Wang Palace, and got the phone number xxx-WANG. One of my friends has his flat listed as Glory Hole in the phone book

I know a lot of Wangs. Isn't it pronounced Wong though?

wtf I never heard that before

I've been told that Wang, Huang, and Wong are the same name.

You do realize that they have to translate Asian names into the Latin Alphabet. There isn't always a single way to do that.

Edit:

So according to Wikipeida: "Wong is the Cantonese romanization of two common Chinese surnames; Huang (?; literally "yellow") and Wang (?; literally "king")."

So, Huang and Wang are different. Wong could be either name.
