I'll admit I'm dating someone who is not skinny. Shes not extremely overweight but she is overweight. I have dated girls that most consider extremely hot... but if the connection isnt there it just isnt there. With this person we have a very very good connection. I also know alot of the reasons she is overweight and none of them are that she eats all the time. She eats salad for lunch, small portions for dinner. And I know she'll lose it. Yes it lowers the sexual attraction, but overall attraction is still very much there because we love each other, have alot of fun, have alot in common. I'm confident she will lose the weight. I'm also 6'4" 200 and I couldnt date a bone skinny chick. I wouldnt want one.

Most guys wouldn't understand it... but if they found someone who was the one... weight wouldnt play a role (To a resonable extent). Everyone has flaws, and weight is one of the easier flaws to fix.

/shrug This was why I wasn't going to post anything. Dumb comments like you want a cookie... And where did I ever say she HAS to lose the weight? Sorry, but Im not going to throw away love over a few pounds. You never know if it will come along again. Would I prefer if she did? Sure. Is it a requirment? No. But she wants to, for confidence reasons and for health reasons. All I do is support her in it by doing things like working out with her, going out and skating, just doing things together.

I'm not trying to be like the date fat women spokesperson here or something. Someone asked a question and I gave my answer. No I don't prefer fat women, although fat is different for different people... some think anything but bone skinny is fat, but you find love where you find it. Some would throw it away because of someone being slightly overweight... I wont.

No way. I'm athletic so I expect my significant other to be at least in ok shape. I just could not go out with someone that let their body get to that point.

While I must admit that I am sure I am somewhat shallow at some level...I would like to say weight is not one of my criteria...what is one of my criteria is that the girl I am dating is in very good shape as I am very active and I have always had to date girls that can keep up with me. My current girlfriend plays every sport with me (with the exception of ice hockey) and even beats me in a couple...now I am not looking for someone brutish...but I like my girlfriends to be athletic and competitive. My current girlfriend is fairly thin...but she is by no means sickly skinny. My rule of thumb is usally the stomach...I can take a little bit of extra in the thighs...and of course "upstairs", but they need to have a nice stomach and no love handles...I have found that usually indicates they are in shape...obviously it is hard to generalize like that though...
