Would you give a 1000 for this truck?

I sold my dad a Nissan Frontier 4x4 and he has decided to get rid of his old truck, it is a 1994 Ford F-150 6 cyl, auto. It is in good shape and nothing wrong with it. He said I could have it for a 1000, I am thinking of buying it and flipping it for maybe 1500-2000. What would you do?

It it runs well and shifts fine then get it and do a basic tune up and list it for $2400 or so.

But body looks good.

Yeah it runs great, strong engine and transmission, he just needed a 4x4. It has a clean title also.

Looks to be in good condition.
I would buy it for $1000.
Tell him to sell it to you for $800.

I am neither a fan of truck, nor need one, but I don't mind spend $ 2k for that truck as long as it runs ok :)

300cu straight six ?? I need something to tow my trailer, but after thinking V8 was the only way to go, I remembered the Ford 300 straight six, which had a ton of torque and was quite capable of towing an enclosed trailer.

Any Ford pre-97 is a good buy. The new Triton motors introduced in '97 are causing some owners real headaches due to the deeply sunk spark plugs that can easily strip out.

We had a 1985 F-350 with the 300 straight six at my old lab. It had 300k miles on it and gets treated like total shit but still turned on the first try every single time

I posted a test ad on craigslist for 2200 to see if I got any hits and I did, I'm pretty sure I will buy this

My stepdad had an earlier model f150 than that with the straight six. Damn tough engine with gobs of torque. They are even better when mated to a manual, but unfortunately this truck isn't. I'd say that is a good buy.

I'm going to go against everyone in this thread and call this a sure thing.
Go for it

Yea those are good solid work trucks. 1k is well worth it... You can get 1500 easy without doing anything but investing the time it takes to wait out the lowballers.
