That is the most retarted policy I have ever heard. If I were in that situation and you fired my brother, I would not so politely tell you to fvck off and find a better company to work for. I work for a very successful corporation and I couldn't even tell you how many relatives work there. Hell, the next cube over is shared by a husband and wife.

At my company most people here are here because their dad or cousin works here. This whole company is like a big family and its been like this for the past 20 years.

I hate HR. Well, at least my company's. They don't really solve problems, they aren't there for the lowly employees as they are to cover management's ass. "Everything you say is confidential" is just a big lie. Not sure if it is like this in other large corporations though.

That's a retarded policy. Why would it matter if they both worked there and were in different departments? Only policies I've ever seen were that you could have one reporting to the other. DOesn't matter if they both work there. I wouldn't fire either. If HR hired the second one then it's their fault.

They should be forced to perform a best of 7 series of Survivor style challenges. The winner gets to keep his/her job, while the loser gets fired.

I wouldn't fire either of them. Both of them answered truthfully when they filled out applications so you don't have anything there. Even if there is a policy against HIRING people who are related, that isn't their problem. The problem is caused by a failure in management (someone assumed that this situation could not happen by asking about relatives during the hiring process).

It is.
