Everytime I read one of these locust threads I start to miss techs.

Of course I would, without hesitation in that circumstance. And, have to help parents paint a room instead?? Oh please. It says a lot about your character when you won't even help out a coworker in such a situation.

That was a pretty shitty thing for you to do. That's why you feel shitty.

I probably should have done it, and feel guilty for not having done so. I posted this so I'm certainly asking for some flack but I don't think it says much about ones true character. The fact that you would judge someone else's "character" (a fairly fundamental judgement) by one or two mistakes says far more about your character than mine. Truthfully I do not know you personally so this may say nothing of your character one way or the other. Unlike you I do not wish to prejudge. I happen to have a very fine character. I am one of the nicest and most sincere people you will meat and kind to a fault. This is as attested to by most of the people who have known me for any period of time. This is not a boast but merely countering your statement with factual knowledge of my own personality.

Pretty much agree with the consensus. However, if you truly feel guilty, or wish you would have taken the shift, call him up and see if there is anything you can do for the family like run some errands or whatever. Tell him your plans changed and you could have helped, and now you feel bad or whatever.

He would have been switching one of his off days for one of mine, so it's the same number of days worked for the week. Same pay, no overtime. I do now actually have something I'm supposed to do tomorrow, help paint a room in a house my parents rent. Though at the time I said I couldn't I didn't have anything.

For this reason, you're a dick.

I'd do it if I was able to and didn't have anything else going on. It's nice when others cover when I call in or need off.

What's done is done.

Treat your neighbor as you'd want to be treated. In the event you're in a similar situation as he was, would you not want someone to fill in for you in a pinch?

You've been posting here for 10 years. I am sure he didn't base his statement on this one episode...
