They suck, my brothers have them. Infact they riced them up. They put on air tires, tweaked the engines, all sorts of stuff, and the fastest I can go on it is like 23 mph ( 6'1" 205 )
The ones I'm looking at go a max. 45 mph. Where I live (Vancouver, BC, Canada) we don't have to get a motorcycle license if the engine is less then 80cc's displacement.
ps. the GOPED is not legal up here, something about noise pollution and the local insurance agency (ICBC) won't allow it
<< Ah, the ones my brothers have are the "original Go-ped". >>
yeah, but the ones I linked to are riced GOPEDs, they come with the 12" wheels, water bottle, stickers and wild paint job. I think there's even an option for a spoiler...
LOL........ I can just imagine myself on my 80cc moped waiting at a red light while a Hells Angel pulls up beside me......... I'd rev my moped and he's rev his Harley......... can you imagine (him kicking my @ss)
Anyone from Madison, Wi?? This place has got to be the moped capital of the United States. All UW football and basketball scholarship athletes get mopeds, keep 'em for a few years, and then sell them. So, there's a thriving used moped market here. I mean, a 10 year old moped may have at most 10,000 miles on it. So, mopeds are everywhere here. And boy, do those 6'8" basketball players look ackward on a tiny moped.
I always think it's pretty comical when I pull up to a stop light on my motorcyle and some dude on a moped is next to me. I always feel like asking if he wants to race.
An old college friend of mine actually had a pretty fast moped...... 60 mph max speed. He needed it because he was traveling on the highway between his house and his job.
There was a guy at the office building where my mom worked that used to drive a moped to work. I used to chuckle every time I saw him. Imagine a 6 foot guy in a business suit riding to a law office on a moped. Then I found out his real car is a Ferrari 355...........I don't chuckle at him anymore.
I see mopeds all the time where I live so it really isn't so weird.
There are some nice mopeds around.. I have ridden mopeds and scooters..and I like them.
There are some really stylish mopeds in europe and asia. TVS Scooty, The one from Piaggio etc etc.
Anyway if I were you get your motorcycle licence and get a sports scooter like the honda reflex..
its a lot more fun to ride.. I am having second thoughts... I should have got the reflex or maybe should have imported the 500cc X9 concept from Piaggio.
Aquaman there is nothing to be ashamed/embarassed about a moped or scooter.
As long as you don't take yourself to seriously, and know how to give and take a joke. I say what's stopping you?
Man, let me tell you if you have the B@lls to take the jokes from your friends, then the rest is cake... I have 2 motorcycles-(crotch-rocket and standard sport-bike), i won't make fun of scooters or mopeds. There are days i'd luv to have one-(local grocery store run).
I currently have 3 mopeds here myself. I use them as pit vehicles for cruising around the pits when we go drag racing. They are the little 50CC Honda Spree one's and the top out at 25MPH. I don't have them licensed for the street though.
