Would you ever quit your job without having another one lined up?

Yeah. I am just now getting comfortable again. I really won't be 100% until probably this Christmas, when my only debt in life will be my car.

I honestly blew 5 digit amounts in so little time it isn't funny.

I totally regret it. I quit my last job out of spite, and it is the stupidest thing I have ever done in my life.

it's kinda interesting because logically you'd think you'd be more desperate when you're unemployed. however i felt almost unbearably desperate at my old job where i was just short of quitting because friends told me i should not and was almost going to take any job thrown at me.

btw i really sympathize with people in this situation as i've been in it twice in my life and it really sucks.

Based on your criteria of supporting only myself an d having a stash that I could support myself for quite a while without any income, then I would if the circumstances were bad enough at the position. But since I'm unlikely to have enough saved up that I would consider it, I'd say No.

I really want to. And I've been emotionally and physically pushed to the point of exhaustion where I feel I can't work anymore but I'd never leave with out a job lined up. But Its really hard searching for a new job when my current employer is raping me with 65 hour weeks.

And no, I'm not exaggerating. Just last night I had to run an entire grocery store *by myself* from open till close.

yep, just did it myself.
had 10k in my savings and upped and moved from south dakota to denver, co
found a job within a week.
it was very nerve wrecking for me, but is very easy to do for others.

Depends on the situation. In my case it was the early 90s, I was making $6 an hour as a tech guy for a mom&pop computer store, and the owner was asking me to lie to customers about what they needed to fix their computers (IE: corrupted HDD required an entire mobo/CPU/RAM/HDD)

Well, I gave a month's notice today (with the condition that I'll let them know two weeks in advance if I need to leave earlier). My boss is giving me until tomorrow to change my mind.

did it once. Had one of those moments at the old job where my brain just suddenly snapped and i just walked out. Luckily i found a much better jobs 3 weeks later, but i definately would say make sure you have a couple grand saved up so you don't have to live like a bum while you are looking for another job.
