Would you ever get a tatoo?

Just read the thread where the guy's girlfriend wants him to get rid of that tatoo, got my thinking...

I think if I ever got a tatoo it would have to be big, maybe across my back or over a entire shoulder - none of this "im a badass rebel with my 2x2 inch skull and crossbones on my bicept" . The only problem is I work in a pretty straight laced field where any visable tatoo might be looked down upon, what about the rest of you ATOT?

Have any of you gone big? if so what did you get and where? and why if you want to explain.

Probably never, but if I ever did I would get it somewhere not very visible, like mid-lower-back.

Well I have not gone, big so to speak, but I do have 9 so far, and plans to have 2 full sleaves.

Left Inside Wrist - Moon
Right Inside Wrist - Sun
Right forearm - black dragon
Left inside forearm - red/black star
upper leftarm - large red stratocaster guitar
upper right arm - Triquetra symbol
upper right arm - Tribal design ( to tie the 2 together)
Upper right arm - Cross
Upper right chest - Counter-strike logo ( yes, I am geek, yes my gf loves is)

So, yes going for 2 full sleeves, legs will have some, back will be covered. hands-no Neck - no face- no etc.

i have tribal arm band on right upper arm

1/2 sleeve (ongoing on leftarm)

yes i want more and i will get more

I've been thinking about getting a tatoo of a tiger on my right arm and a dragon on my left arm. This would represent my dad as he was born in the year of the tiger and my mom who was born on year of the dragon.

Oh and I work in the middle of Charlotte, NC at one of the biggest banks in the country. I look fairly out of place, I get looked at funny, but I laugh knowing that I can read your email... 😀 (kidding, maybe) (Exchange Admin)

I have two.

A tribal phoenix on my back that I got in New Zealand

A Volitan Lionfish (saltwater aquarium keeping is one of my passions, and this is my favorite fish) on my right calf.

I doubt I'll get any more though.

i am in agreement with the OP. if/when i get a tattoo it's going to be big. I'm probably going to get my back left shoulder done with a Mucha, i just can't decide which one yet.

Squirrel running up the inside of my right leg....but I'll never get it. Or maybe "Welcome abord" on my groin...

No. The closest I ever came was while in the Navy TAD in San Diego. We all had been drinking all night and went into one of the tattoo parlors on Broadway. Fortunately I remembered my father and how he always hated the tattoos he got while in the Navy during WWII and would not wear short sleeve shirts because of them.

Asian dragon on my right shoulder that wraps all the way to the middle of my back... 3 Kanji symbols under the dragon's head on the side of the tricep. Black and fully shaded, just got it 3 months ago... all I know is that I love it. Oh, and the ladies are always ranting about it too.

I'd like to get one, and when I do it will probably be pretty sizeable on my shoulders, or on my back maybe. But I want to get something that will be really meaningful to me, and I haven't had the right inspiration to get one yet. It's not something I put a lot of thought into. I'm just kind of waiting for something to strike me, inspiration if you will.

no, i do not think i would ever get one.
I could not imagine waking up when i am 72 seeing an orchid all wrinkly on my sagging butt skin. 😱
IF i did, it would be something unique and different that i would design, probably on my pelvic bone in front

pelvic is such a hot word

I've come close a few times in my younger years. Drunk and in a tatoo parlor while on leave, but we were all told that getting a tatoo was cause for an instant transfer to the 1-9, (you Marines might remember them) and no one really wanted to go there...(our colonel HATED Marines with tatoos...said it degraded the Corps...
Since then, I've looked at a few shops, but could never find anything that I really wanted inked on me for the rest of my life...

But with this logic and at that age, nothing will look good on you anyway. 50 years of sentimental value/looking good/pleasure vs "looking good" during your last 10 years before you die? 😉

That's exactly the argument my mom used on my sister a while back. Makes sense to me.
