would you ever buy a car with 250K miles on it?

For a few hundred bucks - yea. I'd use it as a beater car as long as it checked out via a Honda mechanic.

Yes, certainly, if the price was right.

Unless the car has had a major engine and tranny rebuild recently, I'd say HELL no.

I picked up a 1983 Celica GT-S for $375, it had ~280K miles.

It's been great for my brother (16).

my current honda has 175k and runs strong. It is unfortunately a pretty small honda prelude with little space so I may be in need of more space.

Depends totally on condition, price, and your mechanical ability. If you can fix it yourself it looks a whole lot more appealing. For example, friend bought a '91 Volvo 760 with 200k on the clock. He knows how to work on cars and has the facilities to do so. Therefore, no problems.

don't forget a suspension/brake overhaul.

if its an auto, i'd say no as well.

if it's a manual, and regualr maintenence was perfomred, maybe.

depends on how well it runs and how well it was taken care of. Yes, if it runs good and was taken care of.

My dad bought a buick park avenue with 208,000 miles on it... he's at around 227,000 miles so far... good car (until he hit a deer with it... still runs fine though)

My 1984 Volvo has 208k when I bought it...

Maintenance and quality are more important than just miles.

I've bought several 200k + cars over the years for beaters but they were all under $1k and a couple were way under :). Rightnow my mom's primary car is my dad's old work car a 96 4.6l t-bird with 280k miles on it. I wouldn't be afraid to drive that car anywhere.

I bought a '92 Chevy truck with 211k from the original owner....had fanatical maintenance throughout its life. It still runs like new, great truck.
