Would you eat the genetically modified Franken-Salmon?

  • Yes, I don't see why not.

  • No, are you out of your mind?

  • Ask me when they genetically modify a salmon to taste like bacon.

I haven't a problem as long as they are raised inland and landlocked. I'd give it a shot and would buy it based on price and taste.

No, I think we should eat all the fish in the wild first. After all the fish stock in the ocean has been depleted, then we should consider eating modified fish.

I will not eat GM fish or any other GM food.

There is a big difference between deliberately breeding and genetically modifying desirable characteristics into fish or livestock. I feel (maybe ignorantly) that they are fucking about with something that they cannot guarantee is a 100% safe to us and has no potential of causing ecological harm.

You can guarantee the first thing they will do is make them immune to pesticides then drench the pens with it.

Thats what they have done every other time.

you guys think nothing about the crap you eat at fast food sleaze joints and now your worry about this??

That's fine, but they aren't breeding cattle with frogs. They are combining fish. We cross breed different types of cattle, dogs, and yes even fish with other breeds to obtain specfic traits.

cross breeding is one thing, this is not cross breeding. this is splicing in a specific gene for a specific trait. The study used by the fda was provided by the same company that did the splicing. there should also be a study from an independent source to either back up or refute those findings.

like the line from jurasic park:

Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.

As long as the giant mutated fish don't learn to defeat the electric fence I think I'll sleep ok

We are killing the ocean and once the sea goes, the planet goes. I don't think we have to worry about the potential side effects of this fish.
