Would you do this?

Alright for those who do not know Minecraft went into Beta this morning. The cost of the game increased 5 Euros and the TOS no longer guarantee all future updates to the game will be free. If you purchased during Alpha (Prior to this morning) all expansions and whatnot would be 100% free.

Yesterday I grabbed a few Alpha keys to give away as Christmas presents and whatnot. Well today a good buddy of mine (We have never met IRL but I would consider us good friends) is interested in purchasing his brother a copy of the game. He has approached me about buying one of the Alpha codes to gain the benefits of an Alpha code.

1. Would you sell it too him?
2. He is offering $15, the game in alpha cost ~$13 and in beta is ~$19.

I hadn't really thought of who I was going to give all the codes too and I have only given 1 away so far as a gift but there are many benefits to an Alpha code. Am I just being greedy?

Did you pay for the keys? If so, you can either charge him what you paid, or give it to him as a gift. If you didn't pay for the keys, it's cheezy to charge a friend for one.

I did pay for them and I specifically bought them yesterday for Christmas as I knew Beta was coming this morning and I wanted them to have Alpha benefits.

Meh, since it's so close to Christmas I would just give it to him for free.

Merry Christmas! :)

If you think he's a good friend then yeah go for it, but maybe explain that it's worth more than a beta key see if he'll give you $20 or something.

Oh I did not mention I bought this friend an Alpha copy of Minecraft a little under a week ago as his Christmas gift.

Sounds like option 1 then. If you don't need them all, let him have one.

I guess really whats grinding my gears about this is I bought them yesterday specifically to have them be Alpha codes. If an account is made the day Minecraft leaves Beta and hits store shelves or whatever it will still have the Alpha benefits. I was forward thinking you know?

Now he wants a code because he didn't think to get one before it went into Beta. Maybe I'm just being cynical. He is a friend after all.

If you are thinking about it this much don't give it to him.

Sounds like you want us to tell you not to give it to him.

I may be coming off like that but I think I'm just venting at his stupidity. I'll probably give him the key when he wants it to give it to his brother.

Bah....you bought them for gifts to give. Just tell him you were already planning on giving all the codes away and that should be that. If he wants to give an alpha code as a gift, you know he has one to give at least. (thanks to you)

All this contemplation for $13 worth of game? You've probably wasted that much in time just thinking about it.
