The grammar might be bad, but is the content intelligent? Bad grammar can be a sign of laziness or lack of concern for proper language, it does not necessarily indicate a lack of education or intelligence. Perhaps you should meet her and decide for yourself.

I have to agree with the OP. Bad grammer drives me up the wall. I know I'm not perfect, but if we don't even try to use proper spelling and sentence structure we are all moving towards using ebonics, netspeak, IMtalk or some other variation of english. I drill into my kids that if they come off sounding like FityCent, then they will not be successful in the real world.

I know I'm not perfect either, of course my internet grammar is not perfect. I posted here not to get a job but to vent. BUT this girl should be trying to impress me, or at least put her best foot forward.

OK, another snip, she's discussing her "perfect guy":
But your honest and your not a sell out. You treat women on an individual basis because each women is different and some earn respect and others could care less. Your not perky by any means and you learned at a young age that the cheerleader may be a cutie but overtime a commoner spreading her legs for the home team.

Your for you're is something that I feel like she should be concious of at 27.

If she's not what you're looking for, whatever the reason, then find someone who is. Why is that so fricking hard for some of you to understand?

Christ, you haven't even met her in person to see how well she speaks. You have to understand, people type that way because THEY CAN'T TYPE! Just let it go.

If she seemed like a slut then maybe I wouldn't care. But she's a nice girl and I'm worried about even wasting time on her because her grammar bugs me so much. I know, this is odd but I enjoy writing and judge people's intelligence by their ability to write. She's born in the USA, which bugs me out even more. Here's a snippet from an email, three fragmented sentences, no commas, were instead of we're - makes me wonder!
Cuz its one and the same. and were here for music right? Then maybe we'll talk about it later.

So I met this girl online who I kinda dig. <-- incomplete sentence
She's cute, seems nice, and I would ask... <-- would consider revising this.
I know, it shouldn't bug me but it does. <-- improper use of the comma
...worried about even wasting time on her... <-- would consider revising this.
I know, this is odd... <--- improper use of the comma
I enjoy writing and judge people's intelligence <-- needs revision
She's born in the USA... <-- should be "She was" not She's (She is)
Here's a snippet from an email, three fragmented sentences, no commas, were instead of we're - makes me wonder! <--- this entire sentence is just a bunch of words smashed carelessly together.

Who were we talking about?

I like hot girls. Their level of hotness determines how much I'll tolerate from them...

As long as she is well versed in doing other stuff with her mouth, then it shouldn't be that big of a problem.

what's wrong with being born in the US?

I would forgive her improper conversational grammar if she was from a foreign country, but she should know the difference between "you're" and "your." I'm not saying that she should write a college level term paper, I just ask that you know the difference between "you're" and "your" and "we're" and "were." The fact that she made the same mistake 5 or 6 times in one email bothers me, but I'm trying to get her on the phone to see if she's just a lazy emailer.

Maybe she should be able to type coherently because she was born in the USA, and presumably educated there as well (in American English).
Or he's just prejudiced against Americans (despite seeming to be one according to his profile).
Who knows?

So, have you actually talked to her? You know, like in real life?

If she talks like a hick or with some stupid rapper jibberish then I can see that being a problem but just because she's lazy when she types messages doesn't mean she talks that way when she speaks.

Still, she's not that cute. I probably wouldn't date her.

Dear freedsomsbeat212,

I know my spelling and grammar skillz are less that 1337... but since you just want some meaningless sex anyway, maybe you could just concentrate on that and hit this sh1t.

Sincerely,

Chick.

I would understand that if she was English, but your average American doesn't have much of a reputation for intellectual excellence.:p

Hah, another good point. Maybe I'm being too hard on her. She seems like a nice girl and I would hang out with her, sure. I just hope she doesn't say "yo" or "hizza" in person. Or "my peeps." She hasn't demonstrated that but I fear it. Suppose I should take the risk, she's not a super model but she's cute enough and seems to be a laid back sorta girl.
