Would you consider a 2000 TL with 85k miles?

These things should run forever...and the price is right..but a used car closing in on a 100k miles seems like of quirky.

I wouldnt get it because of the miles. Once you buy it and drive 15k miles and you're already at 100k. Try selling the car then, you wouldnt get half of what you purchased it for.

no they do not run forever... as a matter of fact i've heard people mention some sort of common problems for TL's from those years. if it's $9k i'd consider it. $10.5k is hardly any bargain at all. you can get a newer maxima for that money.

00-03' TL's have transmissions that supposedly have a high failure rate. Acura upped the warranty for transmissions to 100k but after that you'll have to pay for the fix yourself. Its like $3000+ for the fix. Not worth it in my opinion. Get a 99' TL, they have the older more reliable 4 speed trans. Check out tl.acurazine.com

Nope, but then I've never paid more than $2500 for a car. I'm a bottom feeder in the car market and from my perspective a 10K upfront cost is too high when balanced against the maintenance costs of higher milage cars, not that 100k miles is all that high. For a 2WD car with 100k miles I would be looking in the 3-5k range in order keep the total cost of ownership/operation down to an acceptable level.

yeah 2000 car is 5 (in some cases almost 6) year old, no way for more than 10k

mileage isn't the issue, it's the price and auto tranny.

altho, acura will likely warranty the tranny. honda can't make auto trannys to save their lives. their manual OTOH, badass.

their autos works fine, they "just" break.
