Yes these are loud. And remeber that they more fans you have running, the louder the system becomes. I forgot the equation but the fans will add up. Example: two 34 dB fans would be something like 35 or 36 dB. I am not sure how much it will go up. Also remember that anyother fans like the cpu and video card will also play into the equation. I've been in the process of trying to silence my computer and its hard. You might try to get some 120MM fans. I did and slowed them down and can barely hear them. The loudest thing in my computer right now are my hard drives.

I have the same fans. They are very quiet when running in open air. They like to move a lot of air, so if you restrict their intake, they can become noisy.

I think the formula to use would be the square root of the sum of the squares.

I have one as well... its fairly loud... its the loudest fan in my Antec sx830 as of right now(no computer in it just fans) the two stock 80mm's are not loud at all but the 92mm I have is pretty loud... still not terrible with the case shut.. when I put a big CPU cooler in there though.. I may decide to ditch the 92mm depending on how loud it gets as a whole.

actually there arent really that loud when directly compared to their CFM's, but if going by that line of thinking you might as well get a 120mm

If I get another Antec sx830 case (sold my last modded one) I may go with 4 panaflo 80mm M1A's for the stock spots.......that should do nicely. If interested...check out www.teamawe.com for the fans.

34db is pretty loud, remember that an increase in at least 2db is virtually doubling the amount of noise you have - db ratings is non-linear.

If u manage to silence ur power supply (which is usually the noisiest of the bunch) u might be able to compensate for the other fan noise. Then again just get 'em silent fans... much better :)

I installed two in my Antec SX1030. Let me state again: These fans are not that loud in open air. But if you just stick them into you case upfront, without any case modification, they will be restricted by the metal case frame holes. Then they get loud.

The scale works okay for 2 fans...
IE
(2) 34db fans get you a total of 37db
but (3) 34db fans would get you roughly ~38

I'm 99% sure that's how it works....
but look at that...38db is a LOT of noise.
No was you could sleep beside your comp, that's for sure.

You need to stay below 30db for EVERYTHING in your case, to sleep in the same room.

Agreed. I have two PC's here in my room... having really bad acoustics just makes it sound louder than it really is. Right now they're both in my closet behind closed doors at night and the sound still annoys me <g>

I wouldn't say it's impossible ;) I have a InWin Q500 w/ 3 Antec 80MM case fans, 300W powerman power supply, Global Win VOS 32 Slot A cooler, Vantec socket 7 cooler on my video card, a slot cooler from the card cooler, and a Global Win CAF Card cooler!! :) It's friggin loud, but I managed to sleep through it a couple of times! Once I forgot to turn it off, and when I woke up at like 3:00 AM, I thought my mom was vaccuming!!! :)

Thats not loud to me personally, I have 5 fans in my case right now and its not nearly loud enough to bother me during sleep. But the 1 thing that did bother me was the damn Delta 60mm fan *AVOID* it at all costs. That thing sounds like a friggin' hair dryer.

2 30db fans will get you about 33db, which is manageable, but undervolting them to 7v *should* get them nearly silent.
