My company moved 121 miles away so I commuted for about one month. I relocated after I woke up one morning and saw that my car was going at a concrete structure at 80 mph. I straighten it out and woke up again and saw that my car was going at the guard rail at 80. I got it on to the shoulder and slept for 10 minutes which was enough to get me to work without falling asleep again.

Hahha! Funniest story of the year so far.

Can't you just take a Gulfstream to work every day? Obviously you're going to get bored with the ride if you have to sit in back of the Maybach for a few hours every day.

I currently drive 70 miles to work (round trip) each day, it sucked in the beginning, now its like going to the corner store, I am just sued to it.
The only other thing is I find myself having to make sure I leave on time for things, I cant hang around at work to finsih up stuff, next thing you know its a 1/2 hour later and i still have a 30 minute drive!

I used to live in Wichita, KS. When I would drive back to school in Lawrence, I went through Emporia. Emporia is 80 miles away. I quickly realized that a person can commute 80 miles one-way to work, and there would be no way I would want to do that to myself. So, I would probably relocate for 60 miles each way, definitely for 120 miles each way. All that driving gets very, very expensive.

at my last job, i gave my two week resignation letter since i moved 100 miles away from work. i figure i can drive 100 miles each way during those last two weeks. after the first week, my supervisor gave me more monetary incentive to stay for about 3 months while i train another person. i couldnt handle driving 100 miles for that long. so i looked at alternatives and my best bet was to take amtrak between the two places. i would save car costs, gas, and the time on the train i could just read a paper or even sleep. after a week of amtrak, i so got used to it that i could do it longer than 3 months. but i got another job after that 3 months anyways.

i just kept my car at the train station where i worked. and when i got home, i had someone pick me up and drop me off in the morning.

BTW, travelling points were between Irvine and San Diego (CA). i'm sure if you find another alternative way to transport besides car, the commute would be easy and fine. i cant imagine putting 1000 miles on my car every week.

i commute 100 miles (total) daily in a van pool, but did 120 miles
total daily for 2 1/2 years. if the commute ever takes much longer than
it does now (nearly 3 hours/day), i'm retiring.

If they paid me like a $300,000 a year salary... sure.

I'd work for one year, get my $300,000, plop it in the bank and in stocks, and find some cheap paying closer job.

I do 40 miles round trip to HIGH SCHOOL, you pussies. Stop complaining about your tiny-ass commute just because you grew up within walking distance of everything.

120m each way isn't a big deal - IF the company subsidized me for gas (That's what? $24 a day? I ain't paying that myself) AND let me use a small portion of the money they'd offer for relocation to make electronic and audio updates to my vehicle.

Did somebody slap you with a stupid stick? 40 miles round trip is a LOT different than 240 round trip.

Twenty miles is nothing. 120 is.

And I drive over 40,000 a miles a year for work so I have half a clue on this type of thing.

120 miles just added on another 2 hours EACH WAY to your day. If you work 8 hour days, it's now automatically 12 hours. If you work 12 hour days, it's now 16 hours.

The 40 miles thing is in reference to the people above complaining about short-ass commutes - not the OP. What the OP is talking about is a HELLUVA long way.
