Would you choose a .com, .net, .org, .ca, .nu, .cc, .biz, etc.. which one?

What .x would you choose? Obviously the most commonly taken are com, net and org - but there are many others. Which one do you think is cheap yet still acceptable for a professional organization?

Really? That seems odd to me...

I am the webmaster for my company (not "my" company, but main people are "equal", so to speak), and I am trying to decide which .com or replacement to take. I am not releasing the name, since there is no point, and I want to avoid as much stupidity in ATOT as possible. 😉 But, I just would like your opinions on the whole .com/org/etc.. You think .biz would be good? how so? I don't find it exudes very much professionalism. Biz sounds casual and slack, like some "dude" saying "biz"! Maybe it can mean short for Business, but it doesn't seem professional to me. I think I may try to catch a .org, since it's pretty nice/professional, and would suit my organization well (I think).

You don't like the others like CC and NU? Trillian has .cc (www.trillian.cc), their site is somewhat nice? 🙂

There are many .nu's, too. But what are the prices like, does anyone know? What sites do you recommend for registering a domain?

.com is still king and most likely always will be. the others are okay but if you can still get a .com name that is what people feel most comfortable with. .net is okay as second best.

Net is ok, assuming its available, .org is fine for personal or non-profits, but when a full real business uses .org it seems a bit odd.

I would say it depends on your target. I have not looked a trillian.cc but there are millions of computer illiterate people who will type in trillian.com intending to goto trillian.cc.
