then maybe

They don't look "ghey"
Their computers start at $800 (monitor included)
So basically the entire GNU public library is not enough? How about MS Office or IE? iTunes? What software do you want?
You can't build a Mac. You can't build a Dell either.
You can use whatever monitor you want. They can use standard VGA/DVI monitors. Repeat: THEY CAN USE STANDARD VGA/DVI MONITORS.

No. Too expensive and no real advantage compared to a pc.

Yeah, I really don't understand why people buy more-expensive computers with no upgrade options that are slower and do less.

I'm not bashing it; I just don't understand it.

I'm with this guy. It doesn't make any sense to me.

There are upgrade options. You can use any RAM, hard drive, CD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD-RW, etc that you want. There is nothing proprietary about these parts.

Also, let's say you bought a nice new Quicksilver 867 G4 Tower when they came out in July of '01. You spent $2500 on it and used it for nearly two years.

Now you want to upgrade. Do you just THROW the old computer out? No. A quick look on eBay shows me that a used Quicksilver G4 867 tower goes for $1500. So now you have used your computer for TWO YEARS and are still getting at LEAST 60% back on your initial investment.

Try doing that with a PC.

Apple needs more useful applications and games. Of course the price need to be competive, also, before I consider an Apple. Apple OEM mouse with one button is just one out many things that Apple tries to diffentiate itself from a boring PC, the problem is, it's not better. It's ok to be different, but more importantly it has to be better and more useful, Apple hasn't convinced me of that.

Besides games what kind of software do you need to use that is PC only? Note: I'm not looking for specific titles I'm looking for applications. Example, windows has Cute FTP and Mac has Fetch. 2 different titles but they fullfil the same application.

You've got a point with the upgrades. I didn't think about that. Still, you can't migrate any of your upgraded parts into a new Apple because you have to buy the whole system. I don't know about you, but I'm not going to need a new DVD player / hard drive / sound card / NIC / RAM anytime soon. That's a few hundred dollars I save right there.

And no, you can't sell a two year old PC for $1500. But anybody with an ounce of intelligence wouldn't buy a two year old computer for $1500! The fact that people will pay $1500 for A COMPUTER THAT IS TWO YEARS OLD tells me that a lot of Apple's customers are mindless zealots.

Again, I'm not trying to bash Apple. I just see a lot of holes in their system. If you see some way to fill those holes, please share them with me.

You know, if you let your eyes glaze over a little bit, the thread title says "right dick."

Cool, huh?

and get pwned.

Show me some hardware prices and show me some benchmarks. Then i'll believe you.

what does price have to do with whether a dual 970 would beat a dual xp3000 system? you can go read ars articles on the 970 for the performance aspect if you like.

Because in my post, price was mentioned you motard. You could have two pcs for the price of a comparable mac. And get 3 mousebuttons!

my statement was merely about performance absent price, motard.
