Go to Wal-mart and in the camping section is an inflatable air mattress on a frame that is Queen sized. They are about 60.00 and are very comfortable. I have been using one for 2 years. Mine sits as high as a normal bedhere

My mom picked one up for my sister off the side of the road :p

She used it for about a year and then my sister and I changed rooms, so I got stuck with it for a few years.

Just got a real bed this summer though. Things are much improved.

My answer is I wouldn't buy one, but maybe if it was in good shape and free I'd take it.

Why? What is the difference? You sleep on it once, you sleep on it 1000 times. How is that any more icky? I mean I'm assuming you keep clean sheets on it.
I guess it's nothing more than a personal preference. I'm crazy like that. Sanitation isn't the only reason though. Mattresses are great when they're brand spanking new. Nothing against used mattresses...

just a fvckin mattress...you gonna put sheets on it anyways (i hope so). so it doesnt matter. clean it for your satisfaction. or if just have extra money and like blowing it off on useless new crap in college...go for a new one. u arent even gonna use it as much as u think in college.
by the time its night and ur drunk off ur ass, you wont care where u lie down. at least it wont be the hallway trashcan.

When getting a used mattress, before putting sheets down, put down a nonpermeable mattress topper. I think it is actually worse to go to a hotel than to buy a used mattress. In the case of the hotel, you have the comforter which is never washed (and God knows what happens on it), the sheets are also used and you don't know how well they've been washed, and there isn't necessarily that mattress topper. On your own bed, you can clean it first, and then put all of your own new and clean accessories on it. Also, it is assumed that you've inspected the mattress and it looks OK before buying it. You have no idea in a hotel what that mattress looks like.

...Oh yeah, and it's the same thing for anyone living in a dorm. You are going to be sleeping on a used mattress then, also. Not a huge deal.

I wouldn't want a used mattress, but it's not the worst thing in the world.

I am not sure who your responding to , but I f it is me . No it is not stiff because you can adjust the presssure as I said it is comfortable. I used to sleep on a conventional 400.00 pillow soft mattress and it sucked. It's only 60.00 so if you don't like it your not out much. You could use it for company. I like mine.

By the time a matteress is 10 years old it will have doubled in weight. That extra weight comes from sweat/dirt/skin/oils/etc. that accumulates from the people sleeping on it.

Whether you want to sleep on that or not is up to you. ;)

one: noone without a NRFB mattress would want to sell it. it's just sick.
two: who would buy a used mattress to begin with?
three: no, i would not. I'd pay the extra $300 and get a good new one
