Would you buy a used bed?

So i need a new bed, my tiny little twin isnt cuttin it anymore. One of my co-workers is selling the bed in their guest room for $250. I'm thinkin about picking it up and saving myself $6-800 over buying new.

In general, would you buy a used bed?

If it were really scummy and beat up, I probably would not.

It LOOKS pretty decent in the pics, but...

Normally, I'd say hell no, but if it's a nice one in excellent condition, and money was tight, then probably.

Well I'd probably replace the mattress. Although a decent mattress can get a little pricey, especially when compared to buying the entire rig for $250.

The bed frame itself looks pretty nice though.

Well I'd probably replace the mattress. Although a decent mattress can get a little pricey, especially when compared to buying the entire rig for $250.

I'm pretty ignorant about beds, would it even be worth $250 if i were just going to junk the mattress?

oh HELL yes. sleigh beds like that can be very spendy. (You may not like the footboard however. Makes it a PITA to change sheets and such, but they LOOK great.)

Talk to them. Find out HOW used it is. If it was ONLY their spare room bed, and only received light occasional use, then go for it. If it was one they used for 10 years and stuck it in the spare room when they got a new one, then pass. (it LOOKS like it's in VERY good condition...no sags along the edge, no "lumps or dips" in it.

However, ATOT'ers all being wealthy with incomes of at least 6 figures, why not just go by a new Duxiana?

I thought about that too... but then I realized, if you ever slept in your GFs bed and you aren't her first... then its not like this would be any different than that scenario

I guess I should state i'll probably be buying a memory foam mattress topper to put on top anyway, so that makes a difference too, for me, i think.

If it were from someone I knew, then it's okay I guess. Otherwise, I'd buy new.

FYI, I bought a new bed this past February, don't know why but not 5 minutes in the store and the guy offers 40% off the pricetag. I think if I'm paying money for something, I'd rather spend a bit more and get the comforts of something brand new, especially if I'm spending ~3000 hours every year on it.

I would, nice frame and matress looks to be in good shape. why is the co-worker selling in the first place? and with a foam pad, should be no trouble.

queen size? and with that frame, a little s&m play can be fun

Anyway to the OP: With the entire situation, I think you're pretty damn safe buying a NICE, CLEAN looking bed from someone YOU KNOW which was used as a GUEST BED that you'll be topping with a thick MATTRESS PAD. And for $250, that's a GREAT DEAL.

I would've made up my mind a while ago.
