S2000 is in a different class than a 3 series or a A4

if I was looking for a roadster... yes I'd get the S2000 over the Z3 or even the Z4.

If all came down to it..tho if those were the choices.. i'd have to go with the A4...

Yep, they be different beasts. One member here has a s2000 (probably several mems.) and he loves it. Same for 3 series and A4. Can't go wrong with any of the above.

I would take an s2000 in a second. That car is absolutely beautiful (except the one in 2 fast 2 furious) and I've had the opportunity to drive in one for about an hour. I loved every minute of it.

I don't like the S2000 as it has no low end power, so you are always reving it up to get it really moving. I like soemthing that is fast, but also has eniugh power that getting around town it not hard.
I have driven 3 of them and they are all the same, so this is not based on just ONE S2000

If I was buying a new car only, then I wouldn't consider it since I like having some low and mid-range torque. My choice would be the upcoming 350Z roadster. This is despite the 2.2L that will be added to the new S2000.

If you are considering used... if you look hard enough you can get a nice Porsche Boxster for just a thousand or two more than a newer S2000. My friend just picked up one for around $20k. I like torque nearly as much as I hate having too much of it without an LSD, heh.

Reliability Problems

Not if you build it up right. Bigger radiator/intercooler, a properly tuned engine they are very reliable cars. It is just when people start tuning them and don't leave a safety margin and then they have one ping and the engine is toasted then. There used to be a joke that people should have to take a test before they bought a 3rd gen 7.

The torque thing, IMO, is kinda moot. The gearing of the S2000 should deal with it nicely.

I think with cars, you can pretty much determine how the model will perform from driving one LOL

"Yes...I'm interested in test driving this car my good man. Please line up three of them so I can take the average performance of them and make my decision."

like a 3 series?? or audi a4?

If I lived in the southern part of the country I would have a S2000. Since I live in the NE which gets some form of frozen precipitation in the winter, I need either a fwd or an awd for three months of the year then I would drive the Honda the rest of the time.

The S2000's low end torque is sufficient for 99.5% of the kinds of driving most people do.

If it were my weekend car, definitely! Very nicely balanced car, the high revving motor compliments the tight suspension (not to mention the highly rigid frame). Fun car for sure :)

why only a weekend car ? it can be a daily car.

no problems in the snow as long as you have snow tires.

For daily driving I need something with some low end power, casual driving doesn't include revving to 5 grand for me ;) And I'd never take that car out in the snow, A) to keep it clean and B) it has no ground clearance, so unless the road is nicely plowed for me, I can't go down it :p

I have an Integra GS-R which has less torque than the S2000 and I have no problems driving it everyday. Actually it has more than enough grunt to get me quickly away from any mobile stupidity I see on the roads.

My wife sells Honda's. When she first saw the S2000 she loved it. She wanted one till she drove it. She said it was uncomfortable and slow as hell. She said her 2001 Olds Intrigue was faster and rode better. She just got a new Honda but she got an Accord EX.
