Would you buy a new car with 61 miles on the Odometer?

Several Mercedes I know have been delivered virgin (i.e. no activity on the odometer). This always made me suspect as I cannot fathom how the car was not driven at all. Then again, this was Europe, so maybe the laws governing rolling back the odometer are different.

My new car had 70 odd miles on it. I was slightly put off by it for a few minutes, but that feeling was soon replaced by the thrill of driving a new car off the lot...

uh. no. 61 miles is fine. it could have been part of a car trade which means that dealership traded cars with another from some distance away. thats how my dad got the new vehicle he has. I think his had like 100 miles on it when he got it or right around there.

heh NO it is not.

i wouldnt be to worried about 61 miles. its nothing when you are talking about the lengh you will have the car.

very few times will you get a new car with less then at least 20 miles on it. Though when i got my ZX2 (escort 98) it had 3 miles on it.

You can ask the dealer for one with lower miles but unless they have in on the lot you may be sol.

that's my problem. they have tons of SE's (which I don't want) on the lot, but not the smoother riding SL's with Navi.

don't want to order one because my lease is up first week of Nov.

bleh

have you test driven one. all is can say is NISSAN_DRIVEN. 😉

imo nissan's have been getting progressively uglier

i prefer smaller cars but and to me the altima handles like a boat

so i would image the maxima would have to be worse

if you need a full sized sedan i guess it is alright but the TL to be is the only car in ithat clas that i would consider

but don't mind me i'm a honda/mazda/bmw fanboi 🙂

My car had 8km on it.. or 4miles when I got in it the first time. The dealers 'test drive' car had 4,500km on it when we took it for a spin. 61miles is alot.. whos been driving it....

You can ask them to do a search. they can get one from another lot (if they let them) but you will pay for that.

If you don't want to pay you are SOL. with 61 miles they are not going to reduce the cost or anything. though you might get a full take of gas if you havent got one already.

my car had 4 miles on it when i got in it to test drive it.. and then 14 miles after i test drove it and purchased it.

When I worked for NJCure.. a car wasnt considered 'new' with more than 500 miles on it. (It would require photo inspection to prove no damages) 61 miles.. just seems like maybe half a dozen ppl test drove it.

w/ 36K+ miles to deterine if there are any problems I wouldn't make that a reason not to get it, I'd just use it to negotiate. You left, odds are they'll contact you again, tell them you are concerned about it, use it to get more warranty on the car or cut the price some and then don't worry about it ever again.

just make sure no one's test driven it, we know how that works. news cars will have normally 5-10 miles on it off the dock/factory, mine had 4 miles on it new.

You will get a minimum of 2 miles driving the thing from the factory to the lot. Often dealerships trade cars to get one someone wants and in the trade the car is driven from one lot to the other, in addition cars get test drives. Anything between 0-250 is no big deal and should be considered normal. You will be hard pressed to find a car with less than 10 miles on it, often you will need to buy it right after it rolls off the delivery truck to the lot to get that low.

On the other hand you can special order a car, it will just take you 6months to get it, if you get it.

61 isn't bad.

My mother's car had a lil over 200 on it but they had to bring it from the other end of the state(GA).

That said, last car my dad bought had 4 miles on it when we took it off the lot. Needless to say he bought it without a test drive.

200 miles? why didn't you request them to truck it??

I wouldn't mind the 6 month wait, as long as it really did have less than 1 mile on it.

I would love to pick it up at the port. I'd be willing to fly wherever I had to, as long as it had 0 miles. 😀
