Its 100% OK. That child has learned this lesson. Stealing is bad and he won't be stealing anymore. I'm proud of "All Day" for having great parenting skills and being there for his kids.

I hope your roommate beat you with a sixteen port router when you stole his ice cream.

Quick corporal punishment can break young kids out of a retard feedback loop, but when it's thought out and planned, in only teaches kids fear. It shouldn't require anything more than a smack on the ass, and it should hurt a little; not a "game" like some women treat "spanking". It's the exclamation point on enough is enough. If you're gathering tools, or planning punishment, you're doing it wrong.
