ive just ran ATi tool for 2 hours on my 9500pro.....its from connect 3d so is basically a stock product
it was bought pretty much toward the end of the R300's life, jus before 350/360 came

ATI tool has been hovering at 380mhz core clock for the last 1 hour 20 mins, 380mhz! with stock heatsink and fan............i am not sure about this

what do you think?

I've tried the ATI tool to automatically find my max mem and core. It gave me results that were way too high. I have used it manually to overclock, but I won't use it automatically anymore.

In a word, Yes I am skeptical of the results ATI tool delivers, but No I would not doubt a 9500 could do 380. My 9500/9700 softmod would do 370 with ease - stock fan.

Yup, I tried it once too and the Auto result was way beyond what I knew was stable. It was clocking my 9600 Pro's GPU into the 512mhz area when I decided to stop it. My own Manual attempts showed that the GPU began artifacting heavily in 3Dmark 2k3 and UT2k3 around 470mhz. It's an interesting Tool, but I decided not to try it again.

ATI Tool doesn't work with memory overclocking. I set ATI Tool to find the max mem speed, and it totally overshot. My Radeon 9600XT has a stock memory speed of 337MHz. ATI Tool had the memory up to 410MHz and it was still going. The screen was completely star trek (you know exactly what I mean), but ATI Tool kept boosting the speed higher and higher until the computer froze.

I'd never trust "automated overclocking". For me, it was way too low. It cut out at 360/425 for my FireGL QS. Riight. RadLinker says 450/500 all day long. ;)

ATI tool had my 9600XT up to around 610/340 before i stopped it and clocked to realisic speeds (547/317) i wouldn't trust it!

That's odd... ATITool did a good job on both core and mem speeds on mine. I'd previously tested the limits using 3DMark and ATITool came very close in both. I have a 9800NP flashed to Pro BTW.

Yea.. I used ATITool before and it did a decent job of o/c'ing this 8500le that I had.. I tried manually and then automatically and came pretty close. I got a little more out of it manually, but I was expecting that...
