would you bail your brother out of jail?

this is all hypothetical of course. and, of course, this was brought up by a friend while we were discussing the marijuana laws in Nevada.

of course.

So, say your brother gets locked up in a jail in Nevada for marijuana possession(small amount, misdemeanor charge), and bail is set at an arbitrary amount. oh, let's say...I'm just going to throw a number out here... $3k. the reason it's 3k is because he lives out of state, and the bail bondsman is worried he won't show up. Otherwise it would have been something like 10% of the bail, or around $300.

do you send the $3k to get him out? OR do you let him enjoy the experience he's put himself in? if he stays, he'll go to arraignment in a day or two. You can't walk into the jail and pay the $300 as you are currently in Paris.

remember, this is all hypothetical, and my "brother" really isn't in "jail" in "Nevada." 😉

would you bail your brother out?

Well, if you mean Paris, the city in France, and hes only gotta sit out two days, id ask him how bad he needed it. if you mean some city named paris thats less than a 12 hour drive from him, then just do it no questions asked. if he says he really needs it and you believe him then i say definitely do it. hes your brother. then again, im the type that if my brother really needed the help, id pretty much do anything he asked.

Nope - never. He's a scumbag crackhead and if he goes back to jail again - well its a place he is familiar with so - so be it.

what led you towards that conclusion?

Because everyone who smokes marijuana is a crackhead. They're identical in every single way.

As to the OP, it really depends on a myriad of factors. If I had to wire the money from 6,000 miles away, chances are he'd be out before the bail was posted anyway. 1 day in jail isn't so bad; he'd certainly tell me to keep the $3,000 and I'd buy him some beer when he got out.

Most likely I would unless he is an utter waste of space with a history of being what I consider an awful person to the point where the whole "blood is thicker than water" saying starts to lose its meaning. That would take a lot though.

I'd say it depends on your brother. If he's a decent guy and will show up to court, maybe. If he's a loser that will run and leave you out $3k, then no.

wait... isnt it legal to have a decent (like an ounce) amount in NV? If so, wouldnt that mean he had quite a bit?

Didn't bail out my sister and wouldn't bail out a brother if I had one.

Personally, I don't feel marijuana should be illegal. However, it is and if you choose to use it you choose to live with the consequences if you get caught.
