Myself would have a hard time telling a cute girl that we need an STD test before bumpin'. Whaddya guys think?

If you are gay, mention that in your post. I think that male gays have a high std rater.

Subtle way of looking for a partner I must say.

If we're not talking about one-night stands, it's not that hard to artfully inquire into a partner's disease status. :p It's nice to have a story ready in order to prompt such a conversation. This is mine:

So a chick friend of a friend who's studying over at U of Las Vegas hadn't been laid in a long time, and noticed one night that a guy who'd caught her eye a couple of times that she went to a particular club was there again. She decided that if he came over and picked her up, she'd go home with him tonight. And so it happened, and she gave him head in his hotel room and left shortly thereafter.

A couple of days later she's not feeling so great, so she's off to the doctor. The doctor finds weird purplish bumps in her mouth - specifically, (IIRC) on her tongue. He gives her some medicine and she heads home.

Twenty-four hours later, she gets a call from her doctor requesting her to come in ASAP. She gets there to find a policeman present. As it turns out, she has an STD...that can only be passed on by a person who's been having sex with the deceased.

yllus, that's FSCKED UP MAN

anyhoo... um, this depends on the situation. if you're one-nighting it, you're not going to call timeout and ask for an STD test before you get it on. maybe something discreet like, "you're clean and everything right? ok. *muffdive* "...

i guess conversely if you were seeing someone, you would just know through conversation... you would hope. that would suck if you took her out a few times and thought it was cool, and you got the herp or something.

Hell if I know. To be honest, I never tried very hard to verify the facts of the story - but it was told to me as the unvarnished truth. I should probably find out before I tell it to a premed chickie and get owned. :p

For the record, condoms don't stop all STDs. I think some like AIDS have microbes small enough to go through the protective layer of the condom.

I've been asked to be tested and I'd ask in the future, if for some weird reason my gf and I couldn't be together.

Bottom line is: an STD is forever. And I wouldn't have sex with someone, even with a rubber, if I knew they had something nasty or even worse, AIDS.

The HIV virus itself is small enough to go through a condom, but you have to realize it needs a transmission method, aka fluid. Fluid gets trapped by condom, so basically the HIV virus in the fluid gets trapped in the condom, then usually the HIV cannot escape the condom.

Purple bumps? Sounds like the "corpse-worms" urban legend to me. Myiasis is possible, but extremely rare, and I doubt the eggs would survive in the man's penis between the two times.
