Let me explain:
For some random reason the wife and I got to discussions about schoolteachers hooking up w/ students; outside of teachers violating the ethics of student/teacher relationships the wife thinks that the kids will end up inevitably scarred/unbalanced somehow; I would disagree, especially if this is a consensual relationship.
This is the details of our discussion:
- Student "A" is 16/17, regardless of sex
- Teacher "B" is older, say 25+, or even 30+, whatever
- They engage in a mutual relationship, physical, emotional, whatever
- The teacher gets caught and sent to jail, the relationship ends at this point (obviously)
Now, I say; this age is when kids normally start dating/figuring out the complexities of social interaction. Even if a 16yr. old is to date another 16 yr. old, they're going to be inexperienced and will make lots of mistakes in their relationship, of which they will learn from and (hopefully) improve as they date more and more people/age. If the entire relationship is consensual - not considering the legalities of such a relationship - student "A" will grow from the experience and move on; their future relationships will not be stunted any more than any other normal teenager.
Wife says: student "A" is going to be distressed/stunted, they are already or at least more susceptible to be unbalanced if they are dating someone much older than they are - and counting the fact of the student being possibly feeling outcast as their experience is outside of/against the grain of the norm, and will stunt their future development.
Your thoughts?
