Beats me.

I like Thousand Island, but I'm not sure if it was because of the Big Mac.

Thousand Island and Italian Dressing are pretty much the only two salad dressings I like. Some of the others are ok, and some just make me gag (ranch dressing... yuck).

All salad dressing is gross, and ruins the whole point of having a salad in the first place.

Thousand Island dressing, (ketchup, mayo, and relish) has been around MUCH longer than the Big Mac, and has been a favorite salad dressing of children since its inception.

Big Macs are gross...they're one of the worst things on the Micky D's menu.

Thousand Island dressing, (ketchup, mayo, and relish)

it actually is ketchup and mayo? i had no idea, i just always equated its taste with mayo + ketchup + something gross (guess that's the relish).

What exactly is the point of having a salad? It's food right?

Salads are suppose to be healthy. :p
If you are going to add stuff to make it bad for you, you might as well have gotten something better like a good steak. :p

When it doubt, Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousand_Island_dressing

It's ketchup, mayo, tabasco sauce, and a mix of finely chopped vegetables. Usually pickles, onion, bell peppers, or green olives. Chopped egg can sometimes be added.

Never liked it on salad too much. I'm a fan of Greek, Balsamic, or Caesar dressing.

Seeing that this is ATOT and this kind of thing is to be expected, I'll be the one to do the deed...

Only fat slobs like thousand island dressing. Couth people and skinny folk detest it.

I miss the quarter pound deluxe double stack at Wendy's that had the best Thousand Island ever. All the other shit is runny the Wendy's stuff you could dip fries in it.

Thousand Island dressing is horrendous, except on Big Macs.

Blue cheese and Caesar, all the way.

I agree.

Even on Big Macs, I think it's more about being used to it; it seems to adulterate the taste of the beef I think. I prefer Quarter Pounders, though, and I generally don't like salad dressings (not including stuff like honey mustard, which I think is really more all-purpose condiment than solely a salad dressing).

Yes... because a Reuben Sandwich has been around alot longer than Big Macs.

300px-ReubenSandwichHalves.jpg

The Reuben sandwich is a grilled sandwich of layered corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing between slices of rye bread.

And since noone's said it yet... The "special sauce" in BigMac's isnt 1,000 Island Dressing.... its a variant.

From what I've read, "thousand island" dressing is very loosely defined.

It's definitely not classic/original TI (which is mayo + ketchup), if that's what you mean.

I think the problem is they really pile it on, so all you end up tasting is sauce. I like the big mac sauce but I ask them to go easy on it.
