Would this upgrade last me???

Current system:
p4 2.66 533 w/o HT
512 mb pc2100 ram
radeon 9800 pro

Planned upgrade:
same p4
1 gig pc 2100
plain 6800

Will that computer last me a year for gaming? Is that gpu enough of an upgrade for the money and how bad will the cpu hold back the 6800?
Any suggestions are welcome THX

dunno bout the cpu. get 3200 ram, if your mobo allows it. even if it doesnt you can still use it and switch it to something else later. an unlocked 6800nu should last for some time. get bfg.
