Would this be stupid?

I have an Elsa Gladiac GTS 32MB unopened that I don't need and I can return for full refund ($127). My son, who is a die hard gamer, has a Pentium II 350 system with 196 MB memory, a TNT1 and two Voodoo2 12 MBs cards in it. Does it make any sense to put the GTS in this system-will he see any appreciable improvement?

I doubt greatly that a CPU upgrade will happen on this system-those Intel slot 1's are just too expensive (at least when you're used to Athlon/Duron prices).

That P2 350 is far too slow for gaming. The GTS would boost the performance a bit in T&L games but even with the boost, the system will still be far too slow. IMO it's just not worth it for you to put the GTS into that system.

True, P2 is already weak, so some funtions that are CPU intensive in games will still be hampered.

It's more to do with clock speed of the P2. If that same system was running a P2 700 (ie double) it would do quite well.
