Would this be illegal? Trying to catch armed robbers

I was thinking about a way to catch people who try to rob cashiers. What if you had some sort of way to have fake money that has something that will give the robber a nice electric shock when they're on the run. Maybe there would be a contraption that's remote controlled. There would be some dummy bills that have a receiver and something that would give the robber a nice jolt, enough to stun them and maybe make them pass out, as they are trying to run. Would this work?

Would something like this be illegal? What if the guy dies? I assume it would, but I'm just curious. In our legal system, I can imagine the armed robber suing the storeowner :(

I know many small business owners in bad neighborhoods and getting held up and robbed by gun point is a problem.

just my opinion but it would probably be illegal. probably something along the lines of booby trapping your house. thats why banks have the ink packs that explode to stain the money. also if the guy died the family would probably sue and take the store over thus giving the former owner (now broke) to have his chance of robbing the store.

shot gun at the register would probably work best:D

not when a punk ass teen is holding a gun to your face :(

I wonder if those exploding ink packs are something you can buy...

Apparently those exploding ink packs do indeed 'explode'. There's been reports of darwin candidates stuffing the loot down the front of their pants, only to be severly injured when the pack explodes.

What you really need to do instead is have a store with plexiglass windows and a tough front door, plus a cage that you're in that you can close (also built from plexiglass). Then if a robber comes in and starts being a dick just when he's about to leave you can lock him in the store, lock yourself in the cage and call the cops. I saw it on a cops show and the guy was like a caged rat. It took him forever to kick the door down and by the time he did he ran into the arms of the police. It was funny.

That's actually a good thing! They can't reproduce.

Some banks do have special caches of money available to the tellers that are either marked, or have ink packets (and might be fake money too) to give to an armed robber to get them out of there quick w/o any problems. And the ink doesn't come off of stuff.
